Dirty Epic welcomes aboard @kessell for its twenty-ninth  episode of Amplify Series.

@kessell is the alter ego of Valentin Corujo, half of the Exium duo and Polegroup member, this is his solo project where he explores the most liquid of his sonic palette. Granulart Recordings is his new label, physical/digital label focused on the deepest side of techno with dub, classic Detroit sound and 90´s techno influences, designed both to release his own stuff as well as music from artists that fit the philosophy of the label. A label where precision and musicality occur hand in hand with the intention of creating timeless pieces, outside the passage of time, sounds you can enjoy as a delicatessen over the years.

Seeing the scene is moving towards that groovy, more deep sound, this set gives you an insight of how it all started for him. If you don't know Keith yet: Amsterdam based Keith Carnal has in recent years become seen as somewhat of a tastemaker in today’s world of techno. It might not then come as a big surprise to you that he has also become a favoured producer among many who are seen as “techno mainstay”, gaining support from numerous of his own musical inspirations and champions. Carnal, who grew up in a very musical home in the northern part of Holland, found techno at an early age when he began sourcing and selecting on his own. Techno was, and very much is, the first music that made a deep impression on Keith. This feeling only went on to become more cemented after a few years of composing on his own. It simply became clearer and clearer that Carnal is exactly where he belongs.

A living legend is added to our REC series. Relive the memorable set of Steve Rachmad, the man with numerous aliases, including Sterac, recorded in our Room 01. As you would expect from the Dutch DJ and producer, his performance reflects more than two decades of clubbing and perfecting a sound that is often attributed to his adopted home of Detroit. ﻿

Two hours set of a languid ascension, filled with unsettling yet reassuring tracks all the way through. Add varied influences, some heavy groove, a big pinch of skill, and you get his trademark. There is no doubt why the artist has been performing for so many years, and this recording is further irrefutable evidence.

Voyage de Lux with Alex Downey & Ø [Phase] - 23.02.2023

Over the last two decades, Fengler developed a versatile and dynamic style of DJing that made him one of the first resident DJs of Berlin’s infamous Berghain / Panorama Bar in 2005. With his impressive intuition for the very moment, Fengler is capable of changing pace, atmosphere, and energy reacting to the mood on the dance floor: whether industrial-drenched hardness, broken beats, gloomy dubs or melodic and funky grooves – next to his inimitable instinct, Fengler draws from a varied repertoire. The approach of allowing to drift away within the momentum also applies to his first singles as a producer on such labels like Ostgut Ton and Mote Evolver. His debut album „Fokus“ (2013), in particular, was a statement of his ambitious claim, awarding his own tracks with emotional densities as well as unexpected contrasts.

Bringing together both his melodic groove and beat tracks and his straighter cuts, he founded his own imprint Marcel Fengler Index (IMF) in 2011 – a platform that not only continues evolving his timeless techno approach but represents a creative center introducing new and young talents. 

As a DJ and producer, Marcel Fengler stands for imposing surprises and the appeal of variety. For him, techno is both unconditional passion as well as an essential part of his identity. He’s not bound to a linear or one-dimensional sound, instead, he’s constantly seeking for new ways to express his emotional storytelling skills. His willingness to challenge himself and to stay curious, while establishing changes as his secret persistence, is showing his true vision of techno which makes Marcel Fengler to one of the today’s most exciting electronic artists in these days.

Back in one of my favourite clubs ever… Nordstern in Basel. For those who haven't been there, it is a boat and has the best layout a club can possibly have. Amazing sound system, huge dance floor, DJ booth on almost the same level at the end of the room, all black and amazing lights and visuals – a perfect place to get lost in the groove. This time I played an all night long set, started at 1 and ended at some point after 6. This week´s AMFM 419 is actually the 4th hour of my set, next week´s show will contain the 5th and last.
