After previously making waves on our second ever release with his 'Raspushilo' single, Anton Bykov returns to Techords. With recent releases on La Pera Records, Too Many Rules and Re-Play Records amongst others, the Ukrainian artist is back with a 4-track EP entitled 'Short Man'.

Kicking things off is 'Tiho', a powerful techy cut full of fast driven beats, groovy bassline, smooth stabs and uplifting vocals. Continuing with the same amount of energy is the title track 'Short Man'. Either if you are a vocal lover or not, the Kiev based artist has the perfect version for you, delivering a 'dub mix' as well. Finishing off the release is 'Hibiscus', a deep house cut perfect for those warm up gigs.

Simmo's beat catalog has seen him with early releases on labels such as Luv Rhtyhm, SelectA and Subset, crafting his sound around fast-paced, upbeat minimal house. Expect dark, groove-filled basslines, snappy percussion and catchy synth lines!

Funktion: Minimal to its core, we hear synths bouncing left, right and centre, eerie pads creating tension on the build-ups, and of course some tasty, tight swingin' percussion as expected from the man himself, Simmo!

Motion: A crunchy bassline ignites a head bop in the second track of Simmo's release, with scattered stabs, delay infused build-ups and skipping pre-drop drum rudiments to really push the energy on each drop.

Rockit: Rattling stabs keep the bounce going throughout Simmo's final track of the release – accentuated with the dreamy build-up pads and trickling Matrix-Esque FX to give that digital feel. Rock This Place!

The Chunkers sound has gone global! Stepping up for the eighth volume of Sally C’s influential imprint is Paperkraft from Japan.

The ascendent producer in a mainstay of the Osaka scene and has been on Sally’s radar in recent times thanks to a standout EP on Physical Education that had a “real driving breaky old skool” vibe she loves. Elsewhere he’s dropped the tight ‘Not C but K’ on Homage, remixes of Gearmaster on Hidden Assets and material on Mindhelmet and Tombolo.

His contribution to the BSC cannon is thrilling from the get-go. The lead ‘Play Somethin’ Nasty’ is a natural born Chunker, bursting with attitude and sass. Simultaneously colourful, yet cohesive, it mixes up playful hip house vocals with plump b-lines and plenty of rave energy, before a squelchy bass frenzy highlights the second stanza.
‘Funky Blah Blah’ is informed by ‘90s Italo and funky house and is a cute bridging track with plenty of character.

‘Drop The O.S.B.’ is a legit fire cut that’s already become a favourite of Job Jobse after it ignited DC10 this summer. It takes the old skool rave spirit of ‘Play Somethin’ Nasty’ and amplifies it to 11, resplendent with rapid- fire raps, hoovers and a mammoth key-driven riff. ‘Let it Whip’ is a slick DJ tool that channels understated hard house energy, powered by an addictive vocal loop.
