“The Coin” is a one off collaboration between Nigerian rappers Phlow, Alpha Ojini (who is also an excellent producer) with producer/DJ Teck-Zilla.
The track makes use of a classic soul sample and thick trap drums bridging the gap between the old and new while Alpha and Phlow flex their verbal muscles on naysayers and detractors who never have anything positive to say. As they put it, there are always two sides to every story.
The track was actually recorded pre-covid and was supposed to be on Phlow’s shelved ‘Pre Flux’ project but the track is so dope we just had to let the rest of the world hear it.

‘Enter The Double Dragon II’ is the sequel to the EP of the same name by Nigerian veteran emcee/videographer Psalmurai and globe-trotting producer/DJ Teck-Zilla. 
While the first EP was just 3 tracks long, the sequel goes full throttle with 7 tracks that continue the duo’s fusion of martial arts and hip-hop with their distinct twist.
Bolstered by Teck-Zilla's cinematic and exotic soundscapes made up of dusty samples, original compositions and snippets from classic Run Run Shaw flicks, 70s cartoons and anime, listeners are taken on an epic journey that runs the gamut with Psalmurai's verbal jousting.

The project starts with the aptly titled "Intro" where Psalmurai states his claim and pronounces the power of the tongue with lines like "You got the power of speech use it before they mute your lips/ When that time comes you can bet I'll be a fugitive/ Rhyme pugilist knocking you haters out the freaking ring". This is followed by the epic-sounding track "Gang Star", where he implores listeners to be "gangster" in their self-improving efforts. Over the pounding soundscape, Psalmurai delivers the message in his distinctively smooth flow and impassioned demeanour as he reminds us to take the bull by the horns with lines like 
"I'm talking Martin Luther king kind of gangster I'm talking Malcolm X ,yeah you know he a Gangster
I'm talking Nina Simone, I'm talking Nasir Jones I'm talking Jay Z, yeah that kind of Gangster" 

Things switch up on the battle-ready MMA-inspired “King Of Fighters” where Psalmurai references legends such as Bruce Lee, Chuck Norris, Muhammad Ali and even Goku and Akuma. This is followed by the sombre “Crocodile Tears (Cries)” where listeners are pulled into a tale of fatal seduction and the need to guard one's heart jealously. "Kintsugi" is an insightful driven track inspired by the traditional Japanese style of using gold to mend broken pottery and it's pure poetry in action with vivid rhyme schemes such as
"From break beats to break dance, Rap to DJ'ing Heavyweight knock your arguments out when I Weigh in This is the Reassembling after the Breaking Made me more human than a new born baby"

The fun continues on “Silver Slugs”, a dark gloomy tune that sees Pslamurai as a silver bullet-wielding Vampire hunter who is out to get Dracula and his blood-guzzling minions and the project closes out with “Bushido Cheat Codes”,a mid-tempo jazz-infused cut that displays pure bravado in the face of a dying culture where gimmicky rap is preferred to everything else.
Psalmurai sums it all up with the first few bars of the track with lines like 
"This is not the usual this is something different
Every rhyme is out of here vocabulary alien"

and concludes with a befitting hook reminding us that he is cut from a different cloth worn by his hiphop predecessors.

Summer Zilla II is a 10-track lofi/soul sample-driven instrumental project by UK-based Nigerian Producer/DJ Teck-Zilla and is the 3rd instrumental project he has released in 2024. Summer Zilla II  as the name suggests is the sequel to his 2018 beat tape of the same name and continues where the first edition left off. The first set of beats for Summer Zilla II were crafted in 2019 but commitments to collaborations, DJing and then COVID happened which derailed and put the project on the back burner. Over the years, the project went through several revisions and changes and finally, he put a time stamp for the official release to coincide with the first one, the 31st of July.
The project boasts 10 tracks that weave a myriad of genres together ranging from lofi-soul/trap/boom-bap/jazz with a touch of experimental elements.

In promotion for Teck-Zilla's 'Joe Jackson Kids' beat tape, which is set to drop on Monday, January 25th, the Nigerian-based beatsmith is pleased to present the project's debut leak, "Human Nature (Jackson Jones Flip)." It’s only fitting that Camp Lo’s classic debut, 'Uptown Saturday Night,' would celebrate its 20th anniversary on a Saturday (today, Jan. 28). And to pay homage to one of the album’s standout tracks, producer Teck-Zilla shares his jazzy and smooth remix of “Sparkle.”

As it appears on the album, the track glides by with an effortless swagger thanks to the playful rhymes of Bronx duo Geechi Suede and Sonny Cheeba, and the loungy production of Ski Beatz. And in the hands of the Nigerian-born, Montreal-based Teck-Zilla, the track is still super-chill and ideal for a smoked-out jazz club. You know, kind of like the one depicted on the cover of 'Uptown Saturday Night.'

That is, of course, if the venue has a section for dancing and moving about, because Teck’s remix has a definite swing to it. His beat also injects some new sounds into listening experience, including some infectious horn stabs. Inspired by being selected as the official deejay for this year’s Red Bull-sponsored “Battle of the Year” competition in Nigeria for breakdancers, producer Teck-Zilla delivers his neck-snapping and straight-up addictive new EP, ‘B-Boy Zilla,’ inspired by famed Florida turntablist, DJ Chief.

The seven-track project is absolutely brimming with breaks for the b-boys and b-girls, some of whom have already shown off their talents to tracks on here as part of the competition. The Nigerian-born deejay/producer was tasked with coming up with sounds that blended Afro and EDM elements and, suffice to say, he absolutely nailed it.

You can hear this in the high-energy sounds of “Mtoto B-Boy,” which flips Victoria Kimani’s “Mtoto,” and “Skelewu B-Boys,” which injects even more flavor into Davido’s original “Skelewu.” Teck also shows off his talents by taking on two classic joints from different eras (“Nothing But JB B-Boys” and “Sound of the Beast”) that are pure hip-hop Easter eggs.

“I already had a vast collection of break beats so it was pretty much a case of searching through my archives and also doing some research on b-boy music,” Teck says, adding that he completed most of ‘B-Boy Zilla’ the night before taking the decks at the Red Bull event.

B-boy or not, it’s impossible to not feel the good vibes emanating from these seven tracks. Nigerian-based producer Teck-Zilla delivers a new beat tape that can be best described by the words used in its title. 'Soul Buttah' is exactly that—a project boasting soulful, buttery smooth instrumentals that blend classic Boom bap with modern, trap-leaning sounds for something wholly unique.

'Soul Buttah' is more than the latest beat tape from Teck-Zilla, though. It also represents his career coming full circle, as it’s the direct sequel to his debut, 'Souled Off: A Dedication to Molly Molls.' It’s also the second of three tapes he plans on dropping this year (peep 'JetSoul Musique' from earlier this year if you’ve been sleeping).

Musically, 'Soul Buttah' carries Teck’s tradition of marrying different sounds to make one that’s all his own. And while we could praise each individual joint on here, it’s those with beat-switches like “Soul Buttah Medley” and “Northwood Soul” that are sure to pull you in during a cursory spin. That’s all part of Teck’s plan, of course. He created “Northwood Soul” as he was “looking for that laid-back feel but with tiny switch-ups and all that.”

The “all that” he’s referring to are what make the track so immediately engaging, because it feels like you’re listening to the producer creating it on the spot. It’s an experimental, jolting listen, and it’s just one of the reasons heads are sure to love diggin’ into each portion of 'Soul Buttah.'

‘Enter The Double Dragon’ is a 3 track EP by Nigerian veteran emcee/videographer Psalmurai (of the Kalifate fame) and producer/DJ Teck-Zilla (of Str8Buttah). Produced in its entirety by Teck-Zilla, the short body of work is a testament to Psalmurai’s katana sharp lyricism and smooth delivery over cinematic soundscapes peppered with soundbites from classic run-run shaw kung-fu flicks.
The EP starts off with the anthemic “God Level” that aims to explain Psalmurai’s status as a top tier lyricist. Devoid of any hooks or gimmicks, Psalmurai proclaims the duo’s God Level status with detailed effort and layered meanings.
The follow-up track “Soul Calibre” is a solemn but head-nodding cut that sees Psalmurai in his element once again. He takes back emcees to the task and challenges the status quo. On this one, Dj Teck-Zilla cuts in a number of classic hip-hop lines on the hook.
The final cut “Samurai Dreams” closes the project out on a triumphant note. Over a sublime backdrop, Psalmurai stands his ground and questions the individuals who lack the proper work ethic to achieve their goals.
The 3 track body of work will be followed by carefully shot videos that add an extra layer of meaning to the project. All the videos were shot by The Myth and Psalmurai. Psalmurai also edited and animated the videos.

Psalmurai: is a Lagos based emcee who started his career as a member of 2 distinct Nigerian hip-hop groups, The Kalifate, and Nuff Noize. He is also an in-demand videographer/animator/illustrator and has contributed to independent comic book publishers in Lagos, Nigeria.
Teck-Zilla: is the globe-trotting producer/dj who has worked with a plethora of acts around the globe. He is also a blogger who writes for the UK based blog Thewordisbond, Weekly Rap Gods and others. He recently kicked off his own podcast No Shakes No Worries.

Mista Books & Teck Zilla - Try Angles

'The Harder The Better' is a seven track collaborative project between the Nigerian-based emcee/producer duo of Mista Books and Teck Zilla. Inspired by classic ‘90s hip-hop and old school flicks they both grew up on, the project is chock full of vivid lyricism and cinematic soundscapes with sound bites from various movies, spoken word artists, and even legends like Muhammad Ali and Malcolm X.
