SMYAH's new album 'Narratives' comes out on the 20th of April on his own imprint Sound in Picture. The Bulgarian music producer and film maker expresses his influences from a variety of fields and mainly the sound system culture, film soundtracks and the beat scene. He lets the palette of sounds and their design drive the story and create the meaning for listeners. It can take you through a variety of worlds, from a dense jungle, through rocky mountains and even airy and cosmic soundscapes.

Sound in Picture brings musicians and photographers together in collaboration and releases new music dressed in a series of photos, exploring the synergy between both worlds.  It blends together a label and visual arts magazine paying equal attention to both sides of the collaboration. So besides the official artwork, there's a whole series of photos shot on the album that can be found on the official website.

The UK radio station now label Seance (@OfficialSeanceRadio), ready their sophomore vinyl and digital release with more exclusive goodies in tow. This time the package includes original music from Portuguese based @Alfred-Kopke who is also one half of Quantic Spectroscopy and the @Reaktivate imprint.

The DT:Premiere we selected is the vinyl remix of lead track “Jack Have A Art” which comes in from Subjected who runs the outstanding Vault Series project in Berlin. His music can be found on the likes of Speedy J’s Electric Deluxe, Hans Bouffmyhre’s Sleaze and Oscar Mulero’s Warm Up.

The remix is unbelievably menacing and powerful with a pulsating sea of bass, covered in static rain from the off. Later introduced is the contrasting hook making use of the originals lead, a real bombshell for those who like a pounding industrial rhythm.

Electronic music producer and DJ Greg Sanders AKA Distance returns with his third long player ‘Dynamis’, set for release through Tectonic Recordings on 21st October. 

Alongside recording ‘Dynamis’ over the past four years, Distance has been writing and producing for other artists including Riz MC, Jeb Loy Nichols and Jon More of Coldcut. Working with these artists helped open his mind to other styles of music and led to him veering away from his 140bpm roots. The productions of A$AP Ferg, Drake, Schoolboy Q and earlier Arca and FKA Twigs were a big influence, alongside the soundtracks of Hans Zimmer and Cliff Martinez. 

“I get inspiration from everywhere and deliberately try to ignore what is happening in the scene I'm most involved in. ‘Dynamis’ is influenced a lot by film scores, I have geeked out massively to create great dynamics in all of the tracks, sounds are heavily automated and processed to really give the music life.”

Distance - Kingdoms Fall

Adriatique have revealed the very first release to come out on their brand new label, Siamese. The three-track EP from the duo, entitled ‘Patterns of Eternity’, will be released on the 14th October, with presales already live.

The title track, running at 11 minutes long, is a hypnotic journey driven by layers of synth lines, with a powerful low end. Meanwhile, ‘Womb’ on the B-side is a darker, more uncompromising affair. Built for the dancefloor, the track has already been a success on the club circuit.

Final track ‘Quadrivia’ channels the minimal influences that the duo cite as an inspiration, yet features the classic characteristics of Adriatique’s production style; a detail-orientated focus on the layering and dropping away of percussion and a bassline built for the best club sound systems.

This debut EP on the new label is just the start of a new chapter for Adriatique; the Siamese project is a shared dream for them both. Although it is first and foremost a music label, the duo envision Siamese opening up to a broad variety of arts, providing a home for boundary-pushing creatives of various genres.

Piero and Thomas are Angle, a duo based in Italy and who we're really happy to have come across, because quite simply they make amazing modular techno. Piero is also the designer for Tiptop Audio Records, a California label dedicated to sound research through the use of modular synthesizers. The label have previously put out a pair of compilations with tracks from the likes of Blawan and Surgeon, and now they're releasing Angle's debut EP Hold Your Breath.

We're premiering the excellent title track, an electro missile of bouncy synths and gridsnap drums. Disembodied female voices float around in the ether, but this is the most dancefloor-ready haunting I've ever experienced. One for late night man on a mission motorway driving methinks.

The closure of fabric has seen a reaction that has been completely humbling and overwhelming to all of us on the team here, from over 150,000 signing a petition of support to raising in excess of £300,000 in donations to help our legal fight. 

Support has come from every corner of the industry, with fundraising events at a number of different venues being held up and down the UK. This response perfectly encapsulates everything the electronic music community represents.

Both fabric Records and our artist led label Houndstooth decided a release that embodies this spirit would be a further powerful way to demonstrate the collective power of our community. We asked artists associated with both labels to donate a track to the cause, needing to act fast we gave a deadline of just 3 weeks in total, from inception to final master. The brief was simple, we asked for a previously unreleased track, either brand new or an alternative version of an old classic.

The response has been far greater than we could have ever anticipated, with an array of amazing artists delivering stunning tracks. Given this generosity every track that has been submitted is featured on the release, meaning an incredible 111 tracks make up the final running order, presented in alphabetical order.

Due to touring and time constraints many more artists could and would have like to have been involved, and we can’t give enough thanks to all the labels that have generously allowed their artists to contribute.

In the era of the playlist, this compilation represents a comprehensive overview of electronic music from the outer fringes of experimental explorations right through to music aimed squarely at the dancefloor.

Ahead of the court date which will determine the long term future of fabric nightclub we’d like to present this compilation as a document of this moment in time but also as the perfect embodiment of everything fabric is and stands for.

Early support from Mall Grab, Darwin, and Loefah puts the tracks firmly in the UK techno scene’s ‘gully-130’ dangerzone.
