‘I Want Your Love’, marked a major breakthrough, earning heavy support from none other than the legendary Carl Cox, seeing the track top the Beatport house chart for three consecutive weeks - following this, Rue released ‘Sweet Sensation’ ft. Livvy Lauren, which also hit the number 1 spot on Beatport.

There is two sides to Blaydek.

There is the soft, gentle, contemplative, synthesiser loving sounds, as in tracks like Moon and Anything.

The other is a more raw new-wave inspired, guitar-pop loving sound, heard in Talk or Supermarché.

There is no order to it... it’s an expression of my many eclectic influences from Yo La Tengo and Vangelis, to Beck and Joy Division. I love pop music as much as I love underground, lofi, or strange music. The search is always for the sounds that spark emotion in some form or another. The plan was always to merge my love of synthesisers and guitars, but sometimes music takes on a life of its own and it just comes out the way it does.

It’s much more than indie. Indie doesn’t really help to describe much apart from the fact that I’m in independent musician. Hopefully it can be as genreless as possible.

I spent my early days as a musician touring with various bands in Birmingham, where I’m from, then I moved to New York, where I played amongst musicians on the scene in the Lower East Side, living an artists life in Manhattan. I now live and produce music in London.

I’ve gotten numerous plays on BBC introducing, write-ups from Turtle Tempo, It’s All Indie, Lost in the Manor, etc.

Our live lineup is as eclectic as our music. A changing group of musicians to suit the venue, playing a diverse array of arrangements of Blaydek compositions.

Rumour has it that Blaydek once turned down a slot on McFly’s lineup cause he was just too god damn busy.

He also invented the sea shanty craze.
