I'd call this a remake, but it's honestly a cover of my own track. The original, flawed in all its good intentions, never quite sat with me. The jazzz simply wasn't strong enough. It needed more of a jam feel, more of a climax, and definitely more horns.

Although this release marks the end of the series, our hope is that we’ve inspired listeners and musicians enough to carry our message further, and to keep reinventing FM sounds for decades to come! Is it possible to write a song that isn't really in a key? I dunno how well this actually worked, but it sure was fun to try. I wanted to keep the melody easy and approachable, but keep the harmonies shifting and sliding. The solo part is in "fake 7/8," meaning it's actually in 4/4 which sounds weird and spooky.

Arranging Matches

Originally released in 2006 under a different (and somewhat silly) name, this track was really only meant as a jam session; I was in a temporary apartment, without my speakers, and just had to get it out of my system. The main riff just had something that stayed with me. 

The original mix was terrible, so I decided to remake it. Also, I'll take any excuse to edit drum fills in shuffle feel. It's like cruise control for cool.
