The dynamic Berlin duo, better known as The Reason Y, return to Second State with a brand new EP entitled 'Density'. After last years debut, the duo have been working tirelessly to deliver a massive three tracker and they have managed to do just that as well as locking in heavy hitter Nick Curly for a stellar remix to guarantee a monumental record. Opening things up is the title track 'Density' and it certainly delivers the trademark TRY sound with crisp, racing hi-hats and low rumbling bass. As signals of bold sirens resonate through fields of sonic indulgence, the duo commandeer a journey into cosmic spaces. Followed by 'Sunwaves' which is the duo's ballad to the Romanian festival they first played last summer.  Laced with grooving low end and sun drenched atmospherics, 'Sunwaves' is the aural illustration of exactly what you would expect from one of the world's finest festivals where the water meets the dance floor on an exotic Romanian beach. On the flip side, the duo take a step back and drop the heady down-tempo number 'Whisper' where percussive grooves fill the blank silent palette as washes of mischievous pads create the feeling of being lost deep in the jungle while a whispering voice guides the listener towards some vacant hope of finding a native estate. To wrap things up, we turn to the one and only Nick Curly for his twist on ‘Whisper’, and in true Curly fashion he delivers a bomb. Swirling tones are draped over an infectiously loopy groove as surges of white noise grow, constantly taking the levels of energy to new heights while the original vocal is brought to the front to ensure a trippy trek into the grandiose areas of late nights.

Karim Sahraoui, known by releases on labels such as Transmat, Cocoon and ARTS, as well as DJ appearances on Boiler Room and on dancefloors all around the world, makes his debut on OFF Recordings.

Book Of Life is a melodic techno track in Karim's signature style. Warm and emotional, albeit with a strong drive for the dancefloor, it can set a strong accent in a set.

Italy's DAST created a slamming peaktime techno interpretation, which is sure to create a massive effect on the dancefloor. Syncopated chords and a rolling groove build towards an epic break.

"Exodus" is aptly named as a perfect track to close the set by the end of the night. Lush and warm pads and melodies evoke a warm and optimistic atmosphere.

Anton Pieete remixed Exodus with a minimalistic and more groove-focused interpretation.

Altogether an EP with a timeless feel, spanning the borders between techno, house and electronica.

Korpus 9 welcome dubspeeka for more of his perfectly spaced out techno sounds, while Frankyeffe and Tom Hades remix to make for another vital package.

Opener Halloran is a surging track built on silky loops and mind melting synth lines. It‘s ci- nematic and evocative and will get the whole club under its spell. The Frankyeffe remix is darker and harder hitting, with siren like pulses and edgy pads all keeping you in a sense of unease as you march forwards. Tom Hades then strips things back to a hypnotic groove, with icy pads and rubbery drums enchanting you as it journeys on through space. Last of all, War Drum is a deep and mysterious cut with more house vibes dominating.

This is another fantastic EP from dubspeeka.

Cologne-based Patrik broke into the scene back in 2010 with his unique spin on techno. Signed to a number of top dance labels including Intec and Filth On Acid, he describes his sound as something which can make people dance. 

“His raw sound with emotional melodies and deep lyrics really touched me when I listened to it.” @monikakruse said. 

The latest EP ‘Like Forever’ on @terminalm combines trance like melodies, growling FX and warehouse drums in a soulful meleé of emotive mind music. Tribal rhythms, spoken word vocals and splashy percussive underbelly complete the picture. 

Monika adds her magic touch to the remix of the lead track, teasing out the main motifs and injecting a large dose of her own personality. ‘Hope’ is a whirlwind of arps and kettledrum kicks that create a wildly expansive soundscape that hypnotises you by stealth.

Teknøtis are a relatively new duo that have emerged from Birmingham’s fledgling modern-day techno scene and are beginning to gain a solid reputation. Having released their first EP on Inward Records back in May 2016, they then supported Ben Klock, Alan Fitzpatrick & Dense Pika in a heavy line-up on New Years Day in their home City.

New material, a result of 12 months of solid progression in the studio, promises to display a new direction, demonstrating Teknøtis’ rapidly evolving diversity as they continue to cut a focused & varied path for themselves through the world of electronic underground music.
