In 2019 we crowdfunded our debut album. One of the rewards we offered for backers was a request-a-cover type affair. One of our fans came up with the idea of us covering this song and organised a group of people to buy the reward and here we are! We feel really grateful to our fans for getting us to do this. It was a daunting task at first but we're really happy with the results and hope you will be too.

We are big Shpongle fans. This song, even within the Shpongle catalogue, is something really special. We've put a lot of heart and soul into our arrangement, trying to capture the emotional journey of the original but using our own musical vocabulary to express a different side of the experience. We really hope that you'll recognise some of the twists and turns of the original, as well as enjoying a fresh perspective on it. Please share it with anyone you think will like it!

Jehst has been my favourite rapper for a very long time. I was pretty stoked to find the acapella online and have the chance to hear his vocals on a production of mine!

Quarantin3 by Ask My Bull:
Oh God don’t call it that! Well, just FYI we named this song well before the word ‘quarantine’ struck terror into the hearts of populous. The main riff for this track was written and committed to voice-memo way back in 2018 by our bassist Tom. That handy voice memo was, for some idiosyncratic reason known only by Tom's iPhone, auto-titled as Quarantine3. So the name was born. 

This track is our first as a four-piece; the line-up on this release is a heavy-grooving rhythm section of Harry on drums and Tom on bass plus Dual-Sax-Terror from Molly and Elliot. The majority of the writing was done online with each member recording their own parts and sending them over to Tom for arranging and mixing.

A Fern in Amber - for Amber - an Alcest-ish song of the heart

Walking Falling - for Richard - to a scene from the book he is writing. Descending a cliff towards a beach where your dead brother washed up days ago, falling, looking up at the stars.

Justice & Hot Air Balloons - for Dad - instructions were to be a bit regal, steampunk and mystical... though it ended up a bit more like the score to a film where those things might feature.

Lyrudii the Keeper - for James - a theme for a character from a book he is writing. Night. Stars. Builder. Knowledge. Secrets. Ghost. Hidden.

Crossing - for Ruth - you just said that you'd love to hear some of my music, so here is a song I wrote a few months ago, just for the love of writing.

Oh, Cats & Oh, Dogs - for Jake and Rebekah - neither of you told me what you wanted, so you got this. I hope you're pleased with yourselves

Born Free - for Grandma - a cover of a song by Matt Monro. I found the singing a challenge on this, but I've tried to do it in my own way.

Recently, I have been trying to turn music making into something more like how painting is for me - less planned, not trying to understand everything, more based on process, function and adapting to what comes. I thought it would be interesting to overemphasise these aspects of music making for a while, as I have spent most of the last 6 or 7 years developing ways of working that are more structured, planned, deliberate etc...
