This is a 24-bit WAV given freely to say thanks to everyone who has followed me on here and has shown support for my musical journey so far. I'm pretty stoked and privileged to be able to do what I do and share what I truly love :o).

While looking for a track to give away after reaching 1,000 followers, I stumbled upon this tune that I'd totally forgot about. At the time I started it, I got a bunch of modular samples and decided to make a simple bleepy loop-based tune out of them. This is the result. It's not really the kind of techno I'm focusing on producing right now, so I thought I'd give it away and hopefully people might like and even play it somewhere. I haven't even played it out yet haha! Enjoy and much love!!

Juan Tellez - Filter 1 (Original Mix)

This interview and DJ set took place on 3/4/18. It was Matic's final show before moving to Europe and I was fortunate enough to be the last guest. 

The first part of the show is us talking about some influential tracks (four, I think) in relation to my musical journey on the techno and electro tip. The mix starts around 31:30, goes from electro to techno, and was recorded via a Pioneer mixer and 3 CDJs. This recording is from the radio stream also. 

It was a super fun time and big ups to Carlos and Kiss FM for having me on there :o).

Bio:

Growing up in the mid 90’s rave scene in Nelson, New Zealand, Juan became hooked on the sounds of Hardcore, and then found his soul in the form of Jungle and D&B. He then amassed a formidable vinyl collection and subsequently DJ’d around NZ in clubs such as Bath St in Dunedin, and the infamous Fu Bar in Auckland.

His subsequent move into production saw several D&B/170bpm tunes released under the ‘Tellez’ moniker, yet it was an experiment into the techno genre around 10 years ago which prompted an entire musical shift into the current 4/4 output of ‘Juan Tellez’. His versatility as a DJ and producer sees him playing and producing across the spectrum of techno (and occasionally minimal/tech), usually leaning towards a darker yet uplifting, atmospheric and grittier sound.

Based in Melbourne since 2013, Juan has found his Australian techno home on the highly regarded Machine label and performed regularly in clubs and festivals around Australia, New Zealand and overseas. Select events include Rainbow Serpent Festival, Dragon Dreaming Festival, Luminate Festival, End of the Line, and Off the Radar, as well as numerous club nights in Melbourne for outfits such as Machine, Bunker, and stranger. Strong support for his techno releases has been seen from the likes of Richie Hawtin, DJ Hell, Thomas Schumacher, Amotik, and many more...
