Hi ! my name is Zaba the Frog. 

I’m a genre-blending DJ with an unbelievable passionate love for music. 

I specialise in drum and bass, but I’ve never confined myself to one style. I focus on open-format sets that feature everything from jungle, electro-swing, trance, house, and garage and try my best to craft something touching and beautiful that also pushes boundaries.

Beyond mixing, I am an English teacher that tries to bring literature to life through music, transforming iconic works like The Great Gatsby, 1984, War and Peace, The Legend of Zelda, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and War of the Worlds into dynamic, storytelling-driven DJ sets. I’ve landed guest mixes for Circuit Sounds, Burton Bass, She Beats, Full Spectrum Bristol and Secret Rave Society, with upcoming features for other collectives on the way. Books and video games were very special to me growing up, as much as music, so I like to bring them to life.

DJ wise, I have opened for Nicky Blackmarket, won the Shape Up Sounds DJ competition with my dark/minimal blends, and I try to bring fresh energy to the scene. I will be opening for Kara for Impulse Audio/Dubsquatch Recordings’ event in June and am due my debut for Reload in May. I stream weekly for MetaHertz Radio, have been recently involved with Dubsquatch Recordings, I’m an admin for Off The Track Recordings and have a residency for Evolution Radio UK. 

As the founder of Croakheads, a grassroots DJ collective (dedicated to creative control and injecting new ideas into drum and bass - and other genres), I am all about pushing the culture forward into new, creative and exciting, experimental directions. I feel like the scene could really do with a breath of fresh air and I want to try to encapsulate that.

With a background in orchestra, theatre, and musicals, plus playing the clarinet, flute, guitar, and singing solos/choir, my passion for music runs deep. I try to blend technical precision with raw creative expression. 

Whether behind the decks or behind an instrument, one thing is clear: I just really, really, really love music.
