For Dutch producer Betonkust making music is about two things: creating something beautiful and having fun whilst doing it. Synth-driven at its core, his gritty, hazy output zigzags between acid, electro, new beat and techno influences and has formed releases for a wealth of great labels like Dalmata Daniel, Nocta Numerica, Mothball and Crimes of the Future.

Aside from his solo work, Swiere has collaborated with several producers, most notably Palmbomen II with whom he released a debut LP for Dekmantel, on top of a collection of EPs for the Dutch festival's label arm as well as 1080p and Pinkman. It's been a fruitful relationship, one that's also birthed his most recent solo release Concrete Coast, which finds a home on Palmbomen's World Of Paint imprint.

Described as "electronic goth pop" (yes please), the LP ruminates on themes of "transience, giving up and the infinite sadness of humanity" and sees Swiere taking a different approach to his dance floor-focused productions, weaving his vocals through twinkling synths and shimmering electro pop melodies.

His mix for riffs off some of these influences, coasting through synth-pop, electro, dub and a personal favourite of mine by Gabriel Yared from Betty Blue. Tune in and take a load of this Thursday afternoon...

Catherine Danger is a sound and visual artist based in Brussels. In her practice, she experiments with a multitude of textures that are designed to be altered or modified. Recently she released a tape on Simple Music Experience label, Roto Rites Dub, 40 minutes of slow, psychedelic waves, Illbient style. Roto Rites are little incantations, short, magical formulations. Roto Rites Dub is meant to be cut, dubbed, transformed, sampled, recited. In 2018 she created an audiovisual label, 2files4free, with Daya Hallé, a label focused on the combination of sound and visual production, through a multiplicity of artists, hybrid projects and experiments.

St Celfer, ft. Christin Call

“Seattleʼs St Celfer writes immersive electronic songs that encompass both haunting beauty & wild experimentalism.” – BANDCAMP

St Celfer, of Korean and American origin, currently lives between São Paulo and Seattle, the latter living off/on since 1990. A fan of Seattle grunge, was, once upon a time, in the 00’s New York scene performing, among other places, at CBGB’s, The Kitchen, Tonic, The Tank, Remote Lounge, Galapagos Art Space, Sputnik, and Stinger Club.  

During the isolation of the pandemic, St Celfer developed an innovative and sophisticated electronic instrument – a “gambiarra,” in Brasilian Portuguese – named Step4D™. This unpredictable instrument is designed to be played and heard live, in real time, and works in a way that bypasses step by step, rational thinking. Every unique performance embraces chaos and forms songs from turmoil.

St Celfer has twice been named New & Notable on BANDCAMP (2021 & 2022), and is the featured wave track for Infrasonica issue #7, ‘Voicing Abstraction’. Much of his work can also be found on his YouTube channel.

C. Asa Call is an assemblage artist living in Seattle and making work primarily at the cross-section of dance, film, installation, and poetry. She received her BA in Painting and Art History from Wichita State University, co-founded Coriolis Dance and was co-Artistic Director for 14 years. She is also the founder of The Shed, a performance installation space that facilitates residencies for artists with complex practices.
