After 3 exciting EPs and the recent rise of her Live performance, Vel made waves last year with the track «Velds1» on MTY-AIR «Mille Attaques, Les Vents Contrèrent» in collaboration with LDS. She is now ready to unveil her first full-length album.

«There is Always a Solution» flows with two slippery vinyl records and 10 immersive tracks. Nine tracks are produced solely by Vel, while one is co-produced by Vel and Anetha. Once again, Mama Told Ya returns with a valuable lesson: no matter the challenge, you will flow a way.

Vel is back with a mesmerizing new album featuring 10 tracks that draw you in with her captivating energy. Are you ready to heed the call? The High Priestess of Drums plunges us into a world of vibrant Techno and brisk Tribal rhythms, while her Ambient passages offer a calming retreat and her Mental influences are bound to stir your emotions. Rest assured, “there is always a solution.” Renowned for her expertise in rhythmic innovation and spatial soundscapes, Vel presents a revitalizing and dynamic release. MTY-011 promises to cleanse and rejuvenate—let yourself be immersed.

With a hint of irony, The Babe (A1) playfully teases, “Do you love me? Do you love my music?” But Vel’s real question is more reflective: you’re in deep water. Dive into the sound bath of Humans in Cafe (A2), close your eyes, and let the drums, the kicks, the bangs, and the buzz wash over you. One Xanax Introspection (A3) later, Vel is inviting us to explore the full spectrum of frequencies—a galloping race of deep bass and high treble in this ambient choreography.

Darling it's better down where it's wetter: joining Vel for a jam session « under the sea », it’s Anetha! Driving percussions are combining with a pulsating psytrance bassline, pure magic: « Ain’t We Mermaids (C1), dear? » Vel, ever the master of the salty beats, slows it down just enough to say, «I Don’t Care (C2),» as she deconstructs. A few moments later… She’s at it again—just when the BPMs are peaking, she draws us into a state of floating lethargy. That’s the absorbing power of Ambient Core (C3).
The current is strong with this one—prepare for a challenge. Deep Tracks Don’t Sell (D1) will drift you away in a swirl of intertwining undulations and dripping drums. It’s time to return to the surface: with a bubbly twist of whimsy, Oh La La (D2) pops in, full of new-wave energy. Vel gently swims us back to shore.

For this new LP, the artwork was crafted in-house under Vel’s artistic direction. The design was skillfully executed by Diplomatie Studio, while mastering was entrusted to In Aeternam Vale, Vel’s close friend and mentor.

Started in 2020, the Mentoring Program run by label owner Martyn has become a worldwide online and IRL community of artists sharing resources, ideas and inspiration. This compilation showcases the wide range of fresh and amazing music that is continuously surfacing from the program, unbound by strict genre definitions.

Besides a collection of new music, Undercurrents is also a consideration of what a record label can be in 2024. Whether it’s a platform for repurposing old material, providing daylight for new sounds, artists or even entire communities, or injecting new ideas about authenticity and sustainability into the current of the underground, rather than partaking in the unwinnable race over algorithm dominance. An understated approach for maximum impact.

Clocking in at four minutes, the Berlin-based producer unleashes a relentless techno-trance frenzy, combining psyched-out oscillations with echo-drenched frequencies. La cultura del internet no surge de costumbres milenarias que otorgan sentido a la existencia a través de prácticas cotidianas y rituales ligados a la ubicación geográfica, ni de la relación que las poblaciones tienen con la materialidad y los bienes físicos que las rodean. En cambio, el internet es un intercambio de información sin barreras ni fronteras, utilizando medios audiovisuales para nutrir la conciencia colectiva de quienes, como yo, han transitado el ciberespacio más que cualquier espacio físico, lo que diluye el sentido de las proporciones y el valor de las tradiciones.
Este constante flujo de información me genera un conflicto cultural: mientras mi cuerpo está sometido a la aspereza y frialdad de la vida urbana en Bogotá, Colombia, mi conciencia habita en el globalismo abstracto del internet. Estas no son dos experiencias exclusivas ni herméticas, sino que generan una conversación interna, un sincretismo sonoro que se refleja en este EP.
Musicalmente, busco reflejar esta amalgama, destacando ritmos y estilos de la música electrónica y global que me inspiran y capturan mi atención. Con este EP, comparto un sonido honesto, irreverente y culturalmente ambiguo, que resume mi experiencia de vivir entre lo físico y lo virtual, entre lo tradicional y lo global.

We're excited to release our fifth V/A, an 11-track V/A called TRANSAERE on 11th October, melding bass, breaks, techno, global sounds and lots more.

The V/A features music from worldwide talents including carin kelly, Dj Spit, Bluetoof, De Grandi, and DARK BUDA, amongst others. Each artist brings their unique perspective, contributing to a diverse and forward-thinking collection of tracks.

The concept of TRANSAERE is deeply rooted in the theme of Air, delving into the unseen yet powerful qualities of this essential natural element. The project invites listeners to explore the hidden virtues of Air, emphasizing its profound impact despite its invisibility.
Through this thematic exploration, TRANSAERE aims to capture the essence of Air's subtle yet undeniable force, offering an immersive listening experience that transcends genres and borders.

"Butterflies can fly at 3000 meters above sea level and use air currents to travel long distances. But on a less cute note, we've also reached a point where there is so much plastic in that air that we actually inhale nano plastics every day, which sticks in our lungs from our clothes."

After an expansive debut release on HTS, TOGO now turns to REMADE with a new EP full of sharp contrasts and tactile elements, capturing the restless energy of the early deconstructed club movement and melding disparate styles into 4 propulsive and emotional tracks. ‘drowned_in_venom’ explores their response to uprooting to a new city, with TOGO delving into the constant sense of existing between brief encounters, frequently resulting in seeing the colder side of their new surroundings. This is manifested in the
aural quality of the release, which shifts through wistful melodies, concrete textures and a consistent pulse of kick drums and bass.

Wisconsin-based producer and drummer Chants (The Trilogy Tapes, Maximum Airtime, Astral Plane Recordings) meets master drummer Dave Schoepke on this all-drums LP for Brussels-based Maloca Records. ‘Speleogenesis’ blends live drumming with dub techniques and dancefloor-informed production, guided by imagery of a subterranean world. It’s a full-circle moment, as the two met when Chants (aka Jordan Cohen) took drum lessons from Schoepke during his teenage years.

The recording process began with Chants creating skeletal demos for Dave Schoepke to improvise on. Schoepke recorded many layers of drums and percussion, running some of them through his hardware synthesizers. Chants then shaped these recordings, resulting in the cavernous dub techno track ‘Pressure Slide’, the Brazilian-influenced ‘Ritmo Crudo’ and ‘Ritmo Puro’, and the uptempo, slippery dancehall dub of ‘The Quickstepper’.

Chants then assembled a new palette of samples from this core and constructed dancefloor-focused bangers like the hyperactive ‘Cyclone Rhythm’ and minimal 170 bpm ‘Rafter’, adding his own homegrown breakbeats. As the album took shape, the music kept evoking mental images of caves, tunnels, and underwater caverns that in turn influenced the final pieces. ‘Notes from Underground’ and ‘Speleogenesis’ present a more unfiltered view of Schoepke’s nuanced drumming. ‘Airbell Dub’ was also created using material from one of Schoepke’s meditative solo performances. Finally, ‘Cavernicole’ features both drummers in full duet mode, trading phrases over an insistent kick drum pulse.

On Bait's third various artist release, the label seeks out the weird and wonky with the apt title 'Out Of Step'. Standing out from the rest of the label's releases, 'Out Of Step' features tracks from ex.sses, lloydfears, gillielove, VCR and lastly Ōtone, who's track we're premiering today. 

Berlin-based artist Ōtone brings organic and ASMR-like elements to the release with their single 'Valve'. Creating what they describe as 'mineral grooves' as they build these sonic worlds via their collection of field recordings, 'Valve' is a chugging swampy track that leaves you feeling like you've hiked through a metallic jungle, clanging against the various plant life on your journey.
