Millsy And Ben Andrews - Just Add Sunshine - March 2015

Bucharest based producers/ remixers/ DJs, the Gemini Brothers describe 2014 as their "remix year". Tronik Youth, Shindu & Future Bones amongst others on the list of artists getting their trade mark, slo-mo, dirty arpeggiated dark disco mixes. 

2015 is more about original tracks  with releases already  scheduled at least from May to September. We've got an EP on Duncan Grays Tici Taci imprint to look forward to in May, with remixes from Somerville & Wilson as well as a Tici Taci version. Then there's another EP in June on the fantastic Nein Records featuring remixes from In Flagranti, Daniel Kyo (Poker Flat), Lokier and Teniente Castillo. There's also stuff coming on new french label called Mange_Moi and Sheffield based Itchy Pig. Combined with more remixes still to drop, it's looking like we'll be hearing a lot more from Gemini Brothers this year.

If you'd like to catch them live they DJ at the Pre Party & the Nein Records Igloo @ Alfresco Festival in Blackpool - May 23rd & 24th. There's further UK dates in Newcastle & Birmingham in June. As well as gigs lined up Prague, Amsterdam, Berlin, Madrid  or Cordoba.

TRONIK YOUTH - APRIL MIX 2015

This week we present you a special mix with a special spirit.

We're excited to celebrate our first birthday with you. To make this day standout, the three founders of the label, three figures of the scene have come together in a triune something to record a celebratory mix and wish the whole community a happy birthday!

We were together for the whole year. We created new music. We made new acquaintances. We produced and listened to the music. We invited interesting people to our community, and we didn't refuse to become a part of the big music world. 

Lots of events happened during the year - together with our artists we released 9 tracks in 2 compilations, reached top-charts in Germany, published 52 guest mixes, presented our music to 5 different venues at live shows, released 4 of our own tracks on other labels.

And all this was done with a great love for the process itself.

Tomorrow the founding trio of Disco Pastors will drop a birthday surprise for the whole community – stay tuned!

And now turn up the mix, which will take you on a swing of feelings and emotions, starting with rhythmic indie-dance, passing through hard and energetic EBM and techno in the middle, and ending with ecstasy of new wave and vocal disco.

Pianopoli is a Belgian DJ and producer who has been deeply involved in the electronic music scene since the early 2000s. Inspired by the infectious grooves of 80s italo, the uplifting pulse of 90s dance, and the sleek, retro-futuristic vibe of electro, he infuses these influences with a modern edge. Matt’s been involved in dance music since the early 90’s free party scene, putting sound systems just about anywhere they could go from railway tunnels to warehouses, quarries to beaches. This developed into residencies at some of the biggest nights in Wales, and a promoting career which regularly featured in Mixmag and DJ, including the legendary big beat night PtangYangKipperBang..Yeah. Guest spots all over the UK also followed, from the Ministry of Sound to Pure in Edinburgh, and support slots and after shows for the likes of Paul Weller, Basement Jaxx and the Stereophonics. 

After a short 20 year break for work and kids, and a move to Cumbria, Matt’s come back around to music again, running regular acid house nights in the Lake District under the Land Of The Lost umbrella, as well as appearing for Balearic Burger on their Big Track tour, at festivals and on various radio shows.

"All good things come in threes" is an ancient concept, known as the "rule of three" or Omne trium perfectum, that suggests things are more satisfying, memorable, and effective when presented in a group of three. This principle is deeply ingrained in human psychology, as our brains are naturally wired to find patterns and remember information in threes, making the concept influential in fields like writing, storytelling, and design. 

Back once again for his third instalment we have non other than the master craftsman that is Mr Wilkinson.

Drawing on both the past and present his mixes span across acid, guitar, cosmic, Italo, disco, rave and chug – all underpinned with driving basslines and a fair bit of bottom knocker.

Rob Murray & Mike Lindsay linked up post-lockdown in Mike’s legendary mancave, along with Gary Jack and James Payne, The Ganghaus was born—a regular spot for crafting tight, crowd-ready mixes. Casual jam sessions quickly turned into full-blown back-to-back DJ sets. Rob, a veteran of Scotland’s 90s rave scene with gigs at iconic venues like Calton Studios, The Fubar, and beyond, brought deep experience to the decks. Mike, no stranger to the music scene himself, picked things up fast.

GANGHAUS - Mike Lindsay & Rob Murray

Mytron is Jacek Janiszewski, a pan-European multi-instrumentalist, producer and DJ. Born in Poland, raised in Holland and Germany, and now based in South East London, he brings a truly nomadic spirit to his music.
This Sunday he delivers his guest mix on the Feed Your Head Radio Show on Kane FM, offering a taste of the eclectic energy that runs through his productions. His releases on Multi Culti, XXX, Bordello A Parigi and Razor n Tape reflect this adventurous approach, often created in collaboration with artists such as Zongamin, Ofofo and Balam. His music has earned support from Dixon, Romare, Manfredas and 2ManyDJs.
Later this autumn, Mytron will unveil his debut album on Montreal’s Multi Culti Records — a fitting home for his border-crossing sound.
