Forty-two months can be a lifetime in the rapidly changing world of dance music, but the 3 ½ years since Maya Jane Coles’ previous Mobilee release, 2011’s “Beat Faster,” has seen the UK DJ/producer accumulate unprecedented accolades from all corners of the dance music sphere, from magazine covers and reader poll placement to premier league bookings and regular play by her esteemed house music peers 

Having seamlessly transitioned from buzz-heavy newcomer to perennial favorite, Maya returns to Mobilee with three tracks in her unmistakable style, one that has only become more potent with practice on releases by Dogmatik, Hypercolour, Jackathon Jams, 20:20 Vision and her own I/AM/ME label. “From the Dark” picks up perfectly where “Beat Faster” left off, with the addition vocalist Moggli only adding more spice to the bubble tech house stew. Proof that as fast as Maya’s star has shot, there’s still plenty of sky left to travel.

A standout track in the Frenchmen’s captivating live sets over the past 12 months, ‘Chain Reaction’ finally drops after highlighting performances everywhere from Paradise at DC10 to Oasis Festival in Marrakesh. 

Led by an infectious hook-laden bassline crafted with the artists’ beloved MOOG Voyager, the track has been an evolving work in progress over months of tireless gigs and studio sessions, as layers of deep pads and effects have progressively been added to create this plump, rumbling beauty. 

The key to Rodriguez Jr.’s production is the ying and yang contrasts to his sonic aesthetic; on one hand they’re fiercely functional and deadly effective on the dancefloor, while on the other, their natural hook-driven characteristics mean they’re remembered long after the first play. 

‘Two Miles Away’ epitomizes this approach; a dizzyingly beautiful melodic gem that feels at once like it was custom-made to soundtrack a morning set, while its subtle toe-curling key change makes it a distinctive addition to his back catalogue. 

Of the track, Rodriguez Jr. says: “It was written and recorded in one night. I was just jamming on the Moog synthesizer and trying to do something with a solid drive, without losing a strong emotional side. It’s been inspiring to record in this spontaneous way, without thinking about the final result and just record in the moment.”

Drumcode has become a label synonymous with some of the most-cutting edge and forward-thinking techno over the last 20 years. Their artists include both emerging and established names, and one of those well recognised is Enrico Sangiuliano. Now announcing the very first concept album of his career.

The prolific Italian producer has been catapulted into the limelight after the runaway success of his past releases, and now Biomorph is born. 

A very special concept album designed to take the listener on a journey of evolution. A musical adaptation describing how biological and technological advances over numerous generations of time have all started from the same first step in our own biological journey.

Divided into 4 parts, Organisms opens with atmospheric tones, gradually blending complex textures and timbres to begin the evolutional process. The beginning of this section combines full sounding arrangements before stripping it all back to basics. From here it dissolves into the atmosphere. Organisms then progresses into a break-beat influenced, down tempo track using synths to add complexity to the straight, broken rhythms.

Galactic, futuristic elements are found in both tracks in Cosmic Forces. Upbeat, groovy, electronic synths resonate, before ‘Hidden T’ brings the tension to get things pumped up with stratospheric swirls and twirls to lay down one of the most mind meltingly deep drops.

Metamorphosis is mysterious, its opening beat is a deep and piercing tone that sends the listener into a sensory awareness of their surroundings before breaking into a fully charged, techno track, with Enrico’s trademark sounds and textures.

All evolution has an ending.

Two Probabilities shows the positive, starting out evocative and emotional, with a gentle harmony, gazing towards a ‘New Dawn’. On the other side of the spectrum lies the negative. This is influenced with a rhythm that articulates the beat of death, mathematical, cold and metallic in texture, it shows the unsustainability of its nature, with a hectic, anxious break beat influenced ending.

Since then, Teenage Mutants have collaborated with an impressive collection of respected artists – Purple Disco Machine, Moonbootica, Laura Welsh, Betoko and Jonas Saalbach are just a few of the names they have shared a studio with, while remixes for Nervo feat. Kylie Minogue, Jake Shears & Nile Rogers, Autograf, Sailor & I, Third Son or Ed One further shows just how extensive their network is.

Naturally, Teenage Mutants’ endless passion for electronic music translates to their DJ-performances. Next to a former residency at La Terrrazza in Barcelona and the current night Verboten in their hometown Mainz, the guys are a regular fixture at key clubs and festivals on the underground circuit, performing multiple gigs a week all over the world.
