Tuskegee Music was launched in May of 2014 by House Music dignitaries Seth Troxler and the Martinez Brothers. As a ‘label of cultural heritage’ the intention is to package up 90’s-minded 12”s that reach into the heart of Paradise Garage and shed a light on a fertile period of influence in dance music’s history. 

Now - a year on from its inception - Tuskegee Music follow up releases from William Kouam Djoko, the label heads themselves and their recent VA release that featured Ibellini, Jesse Colosso and Filsonik with the first solo EP on the label from head honcho Seth Troxler. 

Adding to a gleaming back catalogue that’s touched Crosstown Rebels, Wolf & Lamb and Hypercolour, Seth offers up ‘Just Back’ - a brooding 2-track EP that demonstrates perfectly his ability to control tension to rapturous effect and finally satisfies the vehement anticipation bubbling between his peers with what’s set to be Seth’s biggest and most important record to date.

Globetrotting DJ and producer Seth Troxler is well and truly back on the beats. Having recently released his first track in years, Evangelion, on Guy Gerber's Rumors imprint, he makes his debut solo on his very own Tuskegee. Launching the label with The Martinez Brothers a year ago, CZ kicks off the fourth release for the label with atmospherics that make way for deep funk grooves that slowly build into a twisted, acid dancefloor stomper. Backed by the rolling Junkyard Tool, Seth's Just Back EP is out on vinyl from 27th April on and digitally from 18th May.

Following releases from label heads Dusky and Christian Piers, 17 Steps returns with an awaited label debut from Velvit (Darren White) that offers both forward-thinking club sounds and leftfield sonics. 

Co-opting the dark, technical style that Darren has long practised as drum & bass legend dBridge, lead track 'Be So Cruel' adds a fresh perspective on house and techno forms that instantly stood out from the pack. 

Blending dark grooves and sinister mechanics with Darren's own soulful vocals, 'Be So Cruel' has been heavily anticipated ever since it featured in Dusky's Resident Advisor mix last year.

Featuring the vocals of his brother Steve Spacek, 'No Excuses' is a stripped soul roller with dense rhythms and mad jazz moments that works as both meditative headphone trip and experimental dancefloor moment. 

Completing a diverse triple header, 'South Of 01Your Soul' takes things down a futuristic electro vibe with dark sci-fi cinematics battling it out with body-popping beats and Darren's distinctive cyborg soul vocals.

Another EP and another classic in the making...

We welcome back Onur Ozman to the label and on remix duties, its that man from France again - David Duriez.

Onur Ozman gives us 2 original tracks which we would call his staple sound, bold and daring, pushing the boundaries of the house sound, without trying to copy others or follow trends, these are instant dancefloor winners to have in your sets.

Onur's 'A Woman In Love' is a beautiful deep and melodic house track, tight percussion, a haunting vocal and layers of spacey goodness for you to get lost on the dancefloor. David Duriez then comes along on his remix and turns it on its head and pushes the track to another level, going deeper, techier and with hits of acid as he keeps the main elements in from the original. Finishing up with 'Reset', Onur shows that his grooves and percussion work for them sets that are in dark spaces with flashing lights, using multiple vocals to make the track flow and then adds a bassline that will send shivers down your spine.

A man who is no stranger to the label, Tom Demac returns to the legendary Bristol based Hypercolour imprint with two elegantly deep and intricately layered  tracks with The Shuttle Awaits EP. Tom’s beats are usually more known for heading down the dance floor damaging path, with his hardware laden, club pounding techno productions becoming somewhat of a calling card. But with this release, we see him venture down a different path. The EP is the Welsh born producers sixth offering for the label and we’re excited to have the premiere of the stellar B side, Dave Saints. The track is a seven minute venture down a deep and mesmerising path, with warm, swelling synth pads, reverberated stabs and a ghostly vocal to top things off. This is certainly one of Tom’s finest creations. Press play.

London based duo Solomon Grey first appeared on Anjunadeep with their much loved collaboration with Lane 8, ‘Diamonds’. They return to the label with John Monkman’s sublime remix of ‘Twilight’.

The remix began life as a bootleg after John heard the original during an episode of The Casual Vacancy on BBC1, which was scored by Solomon Grey. Unaware of their link to Anjunadeep, John sent the remix over and the rest if history!

With early support from Jonas Rathsman, Skream and Lane 8 amongst others, John’s remix is a soaring dancefloor weapon, built around haunting female vocals, a driving groove and emotive atmospherics.

Fresh from remixing Foreign Guest’s recent single ‘Rek’ for Berlin’s Crossfrontier Audio, London-based producer Rashid Ajami is proud to present his inaugural EP for Noir Music ahead of its release on September 25th. ‘Night Prayer’ ft. JAW - complete with two remixes from Parisian trio dOP - taps into the distinctive, deeply-resonant sound that first saw Ajami catch the attention of influential tastemakers Anjunadeep back in early 2013. 

Centred around a deep, peak-time groove, ‘Night Prayer’ first and foremost exhibits Ajami’s flair for writing song-based music. Gentle, percussive layers and short bursts of melody provide the perfect foil for JAW’s hazy, dream-like vocal flow to take centre stage to lucidly mesmeric effect. Beautifully balanced and squarely aimed at the dance floor, it’s abstract, prayer-like composition also means it has legs away from the club too, reinforcing Ajami’s ability to produce records that connect in both different ways and crucially, spaces.

Backed up by a pair of remixes from revered beatmakers dOP - one a deeper, tech-leaning vocal rework and the other a stomping, melody-laced instrumental dub - ‘Night Prayer’ represents some of Rashid Ajami’s best work yet, adding to a growing discography that already includes releases on Anjunadeep, Cajual, Kittball and Armada.

The idea behind the title ‘Deep Is the New Sh*t’ is rooted in the, so to say, more and more popular usage of the word ‘Deep’ on matters, topics and, in terms of music of course, genres that has nothing to do with it.  It’s like a wakeup call or even an ironic shakedown by which we’re taking our shot to juxtapose the gibberish associated with ‘Deep’ and the true meaning of the word.
So, the second issue of Kommunity is all about the classic formula of Deep House music – minor chords, nicely selected slices of jackin’ Chicago house vibes and soul-filled vox parts, beautiful melodies, soothing sexy atmosphere combined with delightful sense of incomparable joy evoking nothing less than an irresistible desire to be carried away by the charm of this sound.
