About this journey:
The invitation to create a contribution to the lovely Cosmocast for me was clearly connected with the heartfelt desire to express my joy about the approaching spring awakening here in the middle latitudes with an uplifting set full of danceable lightness. Since my emotional mood has changed abruptly due to the current war in Ukraine and the associated geopolitical upheavals, I decided to rather share this peaceful mix consisting of gentle electronic healing vibes with the world. Let us never forget that we are one human family. Even if we often don't see it or don't want to realize it, we are meant to be connected in peace. Apukuna (@Apukuna) curates and crafts a one-of-a-kind sound from the mountains of western Canada. As the electronic expression of musician Jon David, the Apukuna sound emerges from all regions of the earth through a deep process of listening, attuning and allowing. His musical journeys are best described as heart-beats.

As a DJ, Apukuna has become well known for his live remixes that can only ever be heard within his musical storytelling. Apukuna can be found guiding ecstatic dances, shaking dancefloors, supporting mediative spaces, and most recently on the playa of @BurningMan 2022. His presence on SoundCloud has attracted a devoted fanbase – particularly to his long-format storytelling that has come to support listeners around the world looking to be guided inward for healing and for remembering the love that we are.

Apukuna allows his sound to travel into multi-genre experiences and he uses every opportunity to adapt and expand his sound to support all spaces. For this mix, Apukuna was invited to offer his own expression of the established frequency of the Hydrated radio show. He offers this journey to you as a meditation, a movement and a prayer for an awakening heart.

Reconstruction and comparative analysis of the Central Mexican myths that deal with the first phase of the creation of the world demonstrate that they all tell the same story. They attempt to explain how the world came to be what it is; the result of a mediation between two poles: light and darkness. Such mediation is effected by the sacrifice which, by introducing the sun and the moon, causes day and night to alternate and restores life in the hereafter. They are both necessary.

Through systematic comparison, it is possible to establish equivalences and to clarify the symbolic meaning of several elements. This comparison also shows that the Tamoanchan myth of paradise, often said to be influenced by the Bible, owes nothing to the West. Finally, one can detect connections between the myths of Central Mexico and the myths of the Mayas and the Mixtecs and, in one case, with modern Totonac, Tepechua, Popoloca, and Chontal myths; connections that argue for the unity of Mesoamerican thought.

For this episode, we are delighted to present you an original mix created for us by that extraordinary producer known as El Búho. His ability to blend natural tones and traditional South American motifs with electronic beat grew along the past 9 years and is now renowned. The resulting music creates magical soundscapes, it feels like having a night walk in a forest, the air is filled with the buzz of the creatures swarming around, fireflies sparkle in the dark. Although El Búho’s acoustics are painted in vivid colours, this mix is inspired by Winter. It all begun on a cloudy day in one of those “hobbit-esque” villages in Northern England. You can imagine him sitting by the window, watching the clouds being pushed on by the wind, while the fire burns slow in the stove. There, the artist found inspiration and recorded many of the impressions that we can now listen to on this beautiful mix. The rain tapping on the ground, jackdaws cawing, crunchy leaves being caressed by the wind… Those organic sounds, so familiar and yet so ethereal, they free your mind and might let you fly to imaginary locations. They're able to evoke bygone memories or make us dream of new places to explore. From there, the mix develops along the Winter and welcomes the upcoming Spring. So now open your heart, feel this delicate sound touching it and unleash your imagination to let your mind travel to your own peaceful place.

This set is one of several live sets in a series that will slowly and lovingly, like our musical vibration, open up to the world, bit by bit, piece by piece.

As musical and deep-soul brethren, Captures and Sādana have been harnessing their crafts for years, letting the winds blow their spirits from land to land, shining bright, even in the darkest of places. Their paths crossed in Berlin, the crux of electronic music and led them to collaborate and co-create on a crucial body of work, just when the World needed it most. This series, coming to be known as K I N S H I P, explores the depths of our hearts and the strength and courage in our patience, in friendship, in service; together. It is primarily improvised, with an undercurrent of produced work performed and launched live by Captures then layered and performed over by Sādana.

This Mix is a blending of the music selected for the Occulture Berlin 2019 conference and the Conscious Creators festival 2019, both opening up the deep and mystical power of Samhain. Each of these songs represents a moment of happiness, gratitude and self-discovery in my last few months. I set my heart with joy and innocence.
