This short plunderphonic essay was requested some years ago, by the WIRE, a weekly unique and innovative music radio show aired by the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation). 

In short, I was kindly granted permission to use essentially sound material from the show, including interviews with artists such as Steve Reich, John Oswald, Dj Shadow and Glenn Gould, on and off air bits and bloopers, and music that was presented throughout the show, in order to make a sound collage which was presented on the show shortly after.

I could not express how excited and grateful I was, being given such a privilege. The piece was cut, assembled and recorded overnight, in order to keep the exercise spontaneous and intuitive. It was humbly done in all respect to the artists and the music I was quoting. You will recognize familiar references such as Pink Floyd, Pat Metheny, Steve Reich and the Beatles. 

No sounds other than the ones featured in The Wire's archives, were used in the making of this piece.

インド～ネパールの山岳地帯のクラブシーンで生まれ、極度にブーストされた低音とタムの連打が生み出す呪術的なグルーブが特徴のジャンル”GORGE（ゴルジェ）”。
2012年頃よりネットを中心に徐々に日本に紹介されはじめ、近年再評価著しいインダストリアル・ムーブメントとも共振しながら、「山」「岩」「タム」「ゴルい」といったキーワードと共に拡散。2度に渡るDOMMUNEでの特集、FREEDOMMUNE 0＜ZERO＞ONE THOUSAND 2013への参加、全国各所で勃発するJUKE vs GORGE抗争など、Gorge Explosionと呼ばれる幾度かの爆発的な盛り上がりを経て、今も新たなブーティスト（GORGEアーティスト）とサミッター（熱狂的なGORGEファン）を生み出し続けるこのサウンドの、日本における最前衛のドキュメントが本コンピレーションです。

GORGEシーンの成立に大きな影響を与えたものの、極めて入手困難のためその実在すら疑われていたオリジネーターDJ Nangaデビュー音源の奇跡的なライセンス収録を筆頭に、hanaliやnonSectRadicals、HiBiKi MaMeShiBaといったJapanese GORGEをリードするブーティストの注目の新曲、はたまた北は北海道から南は長崎佐世保まで、最狂のブーティスト達の手による国内の現場を騒がせ興奮の坩堝に叩き込んだアンセムの数々をフルボリュームで収録。
ストロング・スタイルのルーツGORGEから始まり、ノイズ・インダストリアルの手触りを感じさせるハードGORGE、トライバル・ビーツやジャーマン・テクノ、Juke / Footworkやヒップホップ的サンプリング・メソッド、ラップやポストロック、室内楽等々…様々な要素をその懐に抱きながら、“Use Toms（タムを使うこと）”、“Say it ‘Gorge’（それがGorgeであると言うこと）”、“Don’t say it ‘Art’（それがアートだと言わないこと）” の3箇条からなるGPL（Gorge Public License = GORGEを定義付ける規範）の適用範囲を極限まで押し広げ、可能性の最果てのその先を垣間見せる珠玉の21曲です。

GORGEを語る言説に必ず付いて回るGORGEマッチポンプ説。「本当にGORGEは存在するのか？！」レーベルの枠を超えて集められた登頂難易度8,000m級のこの楽曲峰に虚心に耳を傾けることで、その答えも自ずと聴こえてくることでしょう。

【バイオグラフィー】
石井タカアキラ（GORGE.IN／OneInchPunch-Label）

1978年6月6日、神奈川県伊勢原市生まれ。
1998年頃よりDJとしてのキャリアをスタートさせ、2000年に個人プロダクション／レーベル“OneInchPunch-Label”を設立し、楽曲の制作、イベント企画を行う。
2008年、ネットレーベル“ANANSI”より1stアルバムを配信限定でリリース。
2010年、同じくANANSIよりリリースされたクリスチャン・ラッセン・トリビュートアルバム “Porpoise Songs: A Tribute To Christian Riese Lassen” に楽曲を提供。
またそれらの活動と並行してレゲエ・ダブ研究ユニット”PolePoleTaxi”を主宰、UKルーツスタイルのレゲエ・セレクターとしても活動する。
hanaliによるGORGEの日本紹介をきっかけに、2012年初頭よりTwitter上にて突如ゴルジェRT活動を開始、同時に日本初のGORGE専門レーベル”GORGE.IN”の立ち上げに参加。翌年からはGORGE.IN CEOに就任し、精力的なRT活動のほか、JUKE vs GORGE at DOMMUNE出演、国内最大級の屋内型GORGEパーティー”GORGE I/O ROPPONGI -ROPPONGORGE-”出演、ライナーや雑誌への執筆などを通して日々GORGEサウンドの普及に力を注いでいる。

Born in sunny California, DANIEL WANG spent his younger years in Taiwan, only to return to the US in the late 80's to study & work. It was the post Paradise Garage era of ecstatic Hi-NRG clubs at Fire Island with dj's playing everything from crazy italo to early house and disco classics. A genuine spirit of freedom, love and togetherness reigned the sweaty dancefloors. Disco was a revolution. Powerful yet dirty. Disco was secret, underground, dangerous. It was the hottest, sexiest, most deeply loving dance music.

Frustrated with New York nightlife around the millenium switch, Danny relocated to Berlin for its political climate, pop culture & gay atmosphere. With releases on his own Balihu imprint and Morgan Geist's Environ label, Danny paved the way for many disco artists to surface in recent years , his lively and crazy dj sets worldwide being an inspiration for the guys at Horse Meat Disco and many many more. 

Little over two years ago, Daniel Wang played the infamous Oscillations party and those who were there will gladly tell you about the trip he took us on, accompanied by his microphone and the craziest disco & house selection we've ever witnessed, from Bohannon to Steve Silk Hurley over Stock, Aitken & Waterman. This time he returns to Bazaar for the third installment of Holger, so you know what to expect: beautiful freaks & blasphemous good times (and hopefully some good ol' Abba)!
