Ben Zimmerman back at WNYU to guest and show off his Ableton Rube-Goldberg machines/salvaged DeskMate samples/Sufjan Stevens remix. His LPx2 The Baltika Years (Software Recording Co.) is a retrospective of works made on Tandy software by the artist as a young man while a student at Brooklyn College and CalArts. One of my favorite releases of '15 for certain.

Sounds like: warped drum and bass, Myst, big box retail, The Bleeding Edge, Simon Reynolds word salad.

Hear him sing songs from the New New American Songbook such as "Moon River" and "Baby Mayo." Word on the street is he has new releaseS coming YOUR WAY from Wharf Cat Records and is in talks for major motion picture courtesy Feeding Tube Records. Dave Soldier and Katie Down joined Tyler to talk about the Tangerine Awkestra project, an early '00s free improv unit birthed from a music class and comprised of pre-schoolers. Some of Soldier's similar music -- like the Thai Elephant Orchestra and others -- is played and discussed as well.

Anne Guthrie & Richard Kamerman (Sinter, also two-thirds of Delicate Sen) were gracious enough to join me at 10 AM on a Saturday for a live performance. This was right ahead of the first ErstAEU showcase at ISSUE Project Room the following week. I wasn't yet schooled enough to know how to turn the mixer on the board, so about a third of the set wasn't aired live -- although this version is complete.
