There are places I cannot return to.

Not because the path is gone
but because the man who walked it is.

I tried to look back once…
tried to resurrect the comfort of my old shadows…
but the air behind me tastes different now.
Thin.
Hollow.
Uninhabitable.

Hebrews warned me 
once you have tasted the real
once you have stood in the light behind the veil
once the truth has carved itself into your bones…
you cannot un-know it.
You cannot pretend blindness.
You cannot return to what you were.

Redemption City won’t let me.
The gates behind me close without locking
as if the King Himself is saying

Dead roads do not lead you home.”

I look at my old self the way you look at ruins 
familiar,
broken,
unable to shelter anyone anymore.

Some things cannot be rebuilt.
Some things must not be.

The verses speak of falling away
of crucifying Him again
and the words burn
because I know what they mean here.

To try to return to the old life
would be to deny the One who carried me out of it.
To resurrect what He crucified
would be to call His mercy a lie.

The Impossible Return is not punishment.
It is protection.
A mercy that blocks the path back to death.

I hear the City humming under my feet.
A low, steady pulse.
Not pushing me forward
but refusing to let me turn around.

I am not who I was.
I cannot be him again.
The breach closed behind me
and the Cross stands in the opening.

There is only one direction left.

Into the promise.
Into the man I was meant to become.

I used to think blessing belonged to the clean.
