"Learning to Linger" is part of a series of poems called Subtle Intimacy. They come out of experiences with whole body meditation, simply noticing and enjoying the movement and texture of subtle sensations unwinding spontaneously in the body when practicing receptive awareness, enjoying the intimacy of connecting with the pulsing presence within.

asking questions
befriending darkness
being part of this world’s
bold and blessed unrest
connecting kindred spirits
dancing to the inner music

feeling life force pulsing in my body
floating on water and learning to linger
hanging out with poets and pioneers
listening to what the wind has to say
living in the unknown, in a state of inquiry
lying belly down on the earth
making people’s gifts and dreams visible
noticing what is…and what is possible
planting seeds, and playing with words
opening to feel and receive more
spontaneous acts of kindness
subtle touch and spacious love
sparking new possibilities
writing from the soul, and
wandering the world
while letting life
lead me.
