Lifestyle brings yet more Russians to the roster with the addition of Thematic, a producer & DJ hailing from St Petersburg, with a carefully curated two-track release on the label this Spring.  A relatively fresh name in the scene, but with tracks receiving support on Noisia Radio and Amoss’ wicked ‘Cranium Session’ series, his minimal techy style of production is turning heads, and picking him up a following online. 

This release fits into the upwards trajectory of his production style, keeping it relatively stripped-back, while still remaining undeniably catchy and listenable. This release displays a unique style of minimal drum & bass production from Thematic, with tunes that will fit both headphones and a huge club system, the style is consistent and pure all the way through, one for the heads for sure.

Narxy One - 'Tsantsa' is layered over a gated synth line with some pretty huge bass underpinning a classic sci-fi infused neuro roller, with some exceptional attention to detail that delivers driving drums with heavy sub lines under a filtered, twisted reese bass. Some serious groove and utterly infectious.

Renowned for their own distinctive sounds, the next release on Dispatch Recordings brings together two producers with their own unique take on drum and bass. Perfectly complimenting the other’s style, the three tracks that make up DIS150 reveal a creative pairing that we hope to see more of.

‘Enhanced Realism’ strips back complex production methods to enhance the key components of old distorted Emu breaks, classic filters and short verbs to give us that classic ‘warehouse’ tonality.

For ‘Perpetual Motion’ Wreckless shows us his first foray in to a less syncopated style, maximising the straight step grooves that Brain does so well. The bass seems to continually fall throughout the track, working in contrast with the groove for maximum effect.

‘Incendio’ is a minimal stepper packed with a dirty acid filter bass, and that trademark Wreckless syncopation carries throughout the track, rounded nicely with deep pads and the minimal flavours Brain is known for. Perhaps the standout track on the release this really one captures both producer’s individual styles well.
