Nostalgic samples were pulled from 1980s-’90s analog tapes and online ephemera, with distorted kicks, fuzzy synth lines and emotive vocal riffs as hallmarks. Jazz, R&B, Balearic and acid house were all mined for their warmth. Today, lo-fi house artists are evolving by blending live instrumentation, hip-hop, garage and more into their template.
