Further explorations into the echo chamber, what starts off as one take can often lead on to another. Experimentation with sounds, spatial effects, kaleidoscopic meltdowns and more… Preparing for a long trip is never easy, especially when you don’t know what to expect. This one’s a carefully put together selection - a low-slung trip, exploring techno (?) and beyond. Thoughtful, measured, and built with intent.

Episode 2 of Mainstream–Downstream (主流–下流) on TESTFM Radio. It features our second guest: Brussels-based DJ and selector Edouard Hauki.

The author's words: "Waking Life was the main source of inspiration for this mix, since I recorded it one week before this year's edition and I was super hyped to return to the lake. It reflects the sound I link to the festival: deep, dubby, dreamy and even a bit jazzy/funky at times. Lots of psychedelic and Eastern influences as well, which I love.

The mix is like a small journey around the lake: Starting with a slow morning at the Cochilo and watching the Outro Lado from afar while heading to the Floresta. A bit of dubbing at the Praia afterwards and returning to the Cochilo to come down. 

I hope you enjoy this little ride <3"

Minimal techno at 112 BPM with a steady, dry 4/4 kick, subtle sub-bass, crisp hi-hats, and tight percussive loops, The oud plays repetitive, plucked phrases with natural resonance and slight microtonal inflections, blending organically with the groove, No melodic lead, just evolving textures and rhythmic interplay between electronic elements and the oud, Sparse delays and reverb, used tastefully to keep the atmosphere minimal and focused, No vocals, no cinematic or industrial elements — pure stripped-back groove with a touch of traditional warmth.
