Strange Things

La preposición procedente del latín CIRCA se utiliza en bibliografía científica, en documentos históricos o en genealogías para ubicar temporalmente un acontecimiento y determinar mediante supuestos, en qué momento de la historia de la humanidad ha podido suceder. Con este título este nuevo trabajo de Jëan Fixx busca desplazarnos a un tiempo indeterminado donde la relación del ser humano y la tecnología es tan estrecha que ya no se alcanza a diferenciar el mundo virtual del real.

En este compilatorio de remixes Jëan Fixx nos presenta “Last Call”, un nuevo tema que funciona como epílogo del EP CIRCA, en el que nos invita a tomar conciencia y acción de forma urgente en relación a nuestro presente y por lo tanto nuestro futuro. Este track combina elementos de techno clásico con arreglos más industriales y atmosféricos, junto a sonidos melódicos que nos retrotraen a la década de los 90, aportando un tono épico y progresivo que ya habíamos escuchado en algunos temas anteriores suyos como “Tannhäuser Tor” (2022) o “Globalizer” (2020).  Junto a esta nueva pista encontraremos las revisiones de los tracks de CIRCA realizadas por Death Whistle, Leuter, Drow, Ekkofault y Ermete Lo Stige, aportando otras aproximaciones estéticas posibles del EP original, llevándonos a diferentes estados emocionales a través de cinco ópticas muy personales:  
Death Whistle nos lleva a un universo profundo y oscuro con influencias del IDM, el bass y el glitch, a través de la revisión magistral que hace del tema de influencia transhumanista “Virtual Body Language”. 

El remix de inspiración downtempo y tech house que nos presenta Leuter del tema “CIRCA”, nos muestra una narrativa progresiva elegante y flotante que nos seduce con pequeños lapsus de síntesis experimental.   Drow nos sorprende con esta contundente y precisa remezcla de techno oscuro y minimalista, en la que la firmeza de los vocales del tema “The Truth” acompañan una frenética línea de bajo que nos arrastran irremediablemente a la pista de baile. 

El productor y DJ italiano Ermete Lo Stige, a través de la intensa y emocional remezcla que ha hecho de “Last Call” nos sumerge en sonidos industriales y atmósferas oscuras que nos remiten al EBM y al techno progresivo, que habitualmente encontramos en sus producciones.

Los 36 minutos de este EP se completan con la remezcla de “Humans” de Ekkofault nos transporta a un transformador amanecer, melódico y luminoso, en el que el encontrar paz y consuelo de la mano de un tema con influencias ambient, chill out y aportes vaporwave.

It is with a feverish excitement that we can finally announce the next EP in our catalog from our newest addition to the Second State family: Amelie Lens. Besides being quite a multi-talented virtuoso, the Belgian artist comes in hot and heavy for her debut release ‘Let It Go’ and with it showcases her prowess for dark, cutting-edge techno. Over the span of four tracks Lens takes us on a tour-de-force journey into the cerebral spaces of large, dark rooms and flashing strobe lights. Kicking things off is the hypnotically inducing 'Wild' with looping vocals laid over an ever increasing pressure of percussion and white noise. Much like the EP opener, 'Linger On' casts the same spell yet picks up the pace with racing snares and meteoric synth washes creating a deeply euphoric ride. The title track ’Let It Go' is up next and is by far the most 'cheeky' tune of the EP with a twisted acid line swirling around the constant begging of Lens’ voice encouraging you to "Let It Go, Let It Out". Rounding out the EP is 'The Finest Hour' and Lens wraps up her debut with the most psychedelic cut of the package. Low rumbling bass tones and spaced out pads over sparse drums leave lots of room for the imagination providing each listener to create their own journey to navigate. This is the final release in Thomas Schumachers break out Natural Rhythm trilogy on Noir Music. Not only did he position himself on the top of the charts with the first two releases but he also put his name straight in the spotlight and into the dj-sets of many of the top players in the techno scene.

So whats the next move when you have great success and peoples attention ?For both Noir Music and Thomas Schumacher its a no-brainer; You take it one step further and keep challenging yourself and your audience.

The opener Stella on this release is an example of just that. A very emotional string-led track accompanied by relentless techno beats, distorted arppeggios and a big cinematic break to make you pull your hair out from pure joy (i know i almost did).
Persistence is a mesmerising acid-journey that digs deeper and deeper in its intensity as it evolves into one of Thomas Schumachers signature breaks. Then the track takes an unexpected turn through a more complex, dynamic rhythm before resolving back together with its contagious 303 theme.

Its another 2-tracker from Thomas Schumacher where I feel I signed two a-sides as he just keeps making quality music the way only he knows how. It puts a smile on my face every time I play these tracks in the clubs around the globe and I hope it will please your ears as well.
