The Ride of the Valkyries is the second of the four opera, "Ring Cycle" by Richard Wagner.  It was written in 1851 and is one of Wagner's best known musical compositions.

CARMEN: Overture

This is the full score version of Tchaikovsky’s Dance of the Mirlitons from The Nutcracker ballet. Like most of his other works from that ballet, this one is especially popular around Christmas. The flutes play a sweet, playful melody over light orchestral accompaniment. About halfway through, the brass and strings take over the piece with a more impending tone until the flutes return with the original melody to conclude the piece.
