before the age of 10 or 12, from 5yrs upwards, I was brought up around great jazz music, that was in supply from my step dad, an English gentleman claranet & guitar playing one-man band, from Holt, Norfolk, Graham Colombe, in Clapham Common, Old Town. 
He had an comprehensive & extensive collection, of Jazz & blues from Duke Ellington, Louis Armstronge Ella Fitzgerald, Billy Holliday to Muddy Walters John Coltran Dizzy Gilespie Mr T Monk, Miles Davis & Charlie Parker, my Favorite Jazz Artist. 
My Mother an artist, painter of Maddona & child, for Greek Orthodox churches @ the time,such as the local one @ Camberwell Green, Sophia Kokkinos, from, roughly,1977 when I was 7, got me intrested in more mordern music, also, namley the yearly album releases from The Rt Hon' Bob N Marley, Bob Dylan & I remember the 'Hoter than July', album of Stevie Wonder being around in one of the Spanish 6week magic summers 76-77 plus George Benson's version of God bless the Child. 
Graham was a jazz musician himself & English teacher @Brixton college where Sophia Kokkinos took Art as a subject, wrote a song about me @ a tender age of 9 named, simply; Chris!(c)1979 while my mother tried to teach me guitar, but I was not interested, as I always wanted to learn SAX.
He would drive us off through France to a sea side town off Barcelona called Cadaques in north Spain where along the way we would meet artists such as Salvador Dali (1979) & other musicians @ 70s jazz festivals, people that included Thelonious Monks manager. 
As I was a small golden dread-locked Ras-ta' I had my first work as a model child for a dutch photographer named Co' in 1978 poseing as a Mooglie like character water child & then again in Stockwell/Herne Hill age 10, 1980 poseing as an African Prince child-General - my mother still has nearly all the pictures some 30years on. 
Into the 80s my mother was getting more into the ethnic regae side of music, I found underground soul radio stations an inspiration when we moved to Clapham north, my parents split up & I went to boarding school Magdalen College School, Brackley Northamptonshire, 1981 while just round the corner, Brixton went up in flames. I soon found my own way in music in 81 opting for SOUL music, I discovered Shalamar my first Tape Album purchase.
Top of the pops was big back then & when I saw the two videos 'All night long'(c) by Lional Ritchie & Chaka Khan's working of The Artist Princes 'I feel for you'(c) 1983 respectivily, I was soon hooked on Breakdance, Electro body poppin & hip hop, when it was still truely hip hop, & I purchased my first hip hop album tape, age 13 - 'Raising Hell' 1983(c) RUNDMC! It blew my mind so much so that I wrote a tribute rap for the single 'You be Illin'(c) from their next LP 'Tougher than leather'(c) called 
'I got a funny feeling'(c)1986 by C*x Socrates Kokkinos aka Boogie~86mc(c) 
(as I was being known as at the time, under my mums maidan name). 
This was my 3rd self penned item, as I had written 2poems 83 3 years earlier, for a school English project, called 'She the Gazelle' & 'Where I would like to live when I grow up'. My pride still to this day. Performed my debute rap @ the school disco- some of those lyrics from, 'I've got a funny feeling'(c) are used on the second track 'You're in my world'(c)1990 from the debute Album atempt - Future Man...Better late(c)2010. 
1986 school disco was only my second appearance on stage, cause as a Ras-ta' child I sang 'Rudey' with a friend of my mothers @ bistro in Spain 1978.
From 1986-1990 when I took writing study, poetry, raps, songs, essays stories & performance seriously, I was heavly into perfecting the art of body pop mixed with disco dance peppered with similation of sport movements, such as learnt in Various Atheletics events, Cricket, Rugby & Soccer, basket ball, volyball, hocky etc tempered with a bit of Charlston, acid jazz shuffle & rare grove & you've pre-mordern dance choregraphy Boogie88 & no drama but love & peace @ the House Rave 89 or Soul Club.
After basicaly completing Future Man(c) by 1993 I had a brain storm - for a Street Poetry of Ethnic origin & influence - music label of anti-slack lyrics: Brixton Perspective Selectives(c)B'P'S! But the Princes Youth Business Rep gave me short rift. 
1996 I entered hell a new labour hell I beat off writers block & deaths door took a hold, I came through the other side not unscaved & that is what I write sing & rap about now, that & regaining my ability to love as well as defend myself in any kind of fight for my life loves & liverty.

 Later on in my Teens and early ninties I studied soul & swing beat, influences from,Tina Baker to Heavy d and the boyz, Keith Sweat & Mellissa Morgan, NPG?aka The artist Prince - Toni Braxton,  Mark Morrison, Terrance Trent D'arby, Tracy Chapman, MJBlige '90s Jacko r.i.p.etc......I'll be back - with my latest 'Hippie-swing' :)

I have dipped in and out of different genres and the Free Party scene has helped with this. My genres that I mix, play, and produce is HARDTEK, RAGGATEK, TECHNO/TEKNO, ALL VARIETIES OF DRUM & BASS, MINIMAL, HIP HOP, BASSLINE AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN.
