With Charles Bonnet Syndrome, the brain is used to seeing and craves stimulation, so once a person goes blind, he may start seeing images that aren't there. He may realize they're unreal. But after a while, they're so vivid and convincing, he may believe them to be reality.

Half the people who develop very low vision experience this, especially those over eighty. 

The phenomenon was discovered by the absolutely fascinating Frenchman, Charles Bonnet, who is the subject of a previous Sound Animal song, in which I speak part of the time in French (all as a man.)

The lyrics in this song are all inspired by experiences with my father when he had it.

This Serenade was composed in the fall of 2023, while I was getting acquainted to the melodica and was learning to play it. My aim was to have a piece large enough with a piano accompaniment.

Its structure is based on a dance suite, modernized.

I've had a bit of a rebrand. The time has come where I'd like to think that in the 6 years since I started my journey in music production, that it's time to step up a level.
