In a city with fierce competition, Sebastian Alvarez is an outlier all his own. 

Cementing his spot as a performer to watch in the city, Alvarez has blown passed many local comedy milestones in his short time performing in Miami.

In my humble opinion, he might also be one of the sharpest crowd-work comics we have in the city. His ability to whip together an entire set based on one word from a stranger in the crowd is nothing short of uncanny. 

We explore his drive and what keeps him as hungry as he seems, as well as some of his thoughts on working the crowds in this complex and unpredictable city.

Connie Fernandez is many things, all of them are warm and good for your heart. 

As a local comedian, Connie has blazed her own trails, literally and figuratively. 

When compiling the comics I wanted to approach for this series, Connie was someone who we needed to speak with for many reasons. 

She is the creator of one of the single most beloved open mics in the city, and in my experience, a true professional who is wildly passionate about her craft. She also happens to be a sincerely hilarious and thoughtful human being, and if you speak to other comics in town, they will all unanimously agree with this assessment as well. 

In this episode we discuss everything from her earliest comedy memories to her own writing process, and where she feels like she fits into this insane and vibrant local Miami comedy scene.

Comedy Matriarch with Connie Fernandez

Local comedy and academic scholar Freddy Stebbins has been a part of Miami's comedy scene for more than a decade. 

Very few comedians are quite as seasoned to the local atmosphere as this gentleman, and I was tremendously humbled to have had the chance to ask him about his experiences making jokes in the magic city for so long. I was curious to find out how audiences here have evolved in the time he's been doing it, and he did not disappoint.  

In this episode we discuss his tenure in the city's comedy scene, as well as the earliest days of Miami's oldest running comedy room at The Taurus. A room which he himself started, and turned ten years old on the day of the taping of this episode.

Dade County All Day with Freddy Stebbins

This is my submission for the 2025 Penguin Random House Narrator Mentorship. I chose this piece because I took home 3rd place in the Arabian Gulf for Serious Oral Interpretation on my Varsity Forensics team when I was in high school. 

I have read and recorded so many scripts for a wide variety of audiences in my career, but I always remember what it felt like to receive that medal in Abu Dhabi. I had never won anything before in my life, and all of my coaches were concerned with the selection. 

Despite the odds, I was allowed to read the piece and it did very well. It was the first of many of my voice work milestones in my life. My most memorable for sure.
