Yiyang is a dedicated violinist, violist, music director and producer.
Back to his undergraduate study in Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, China, he has been the music director of the university orchestra for 3 years, during which he organized and arranged music for the university's opening & graduation ceremony, on-campus concerts and even off-campus music festivals. In 2010, his band played at the music festival of World Expo 2010 in Shanghai. In 2011, he co-organized the first Dushu Lake Higher Education Town Outdoor Music Festival. In the same year, his band was voted as People Of The Year for its popularity. In 2013, he received the Special Contribution Award for his outstanding devotion to the university's music art activities.
He has moved to Canada for his post-graduate study in 2014 and is currently the violinist of Fredericton Symphony Orchestra. After he came to Canada, he was also invited to play as violinist/guitarist in the pit bands of multiple musical theatres that have been hignly-rated, including all time Broadway favourites such as, Evita, Hello Dolly and Spring Awakening etc. He was also involved in various local music festivals.
In addition to music performances, he has been involved in the video/audio production for local music events. He also enjoys making recordings and arrangements in his spare time.
