The 12 tracks from the first year of the Sub-Zero Series have been remixed by the first year of artists with some fantastic results. Showcasing talent across different genres of electronic music including house, techno, electronica, drum n bass and ambient styles, we have 12 artists, contributing a remix each to this years edition.

Alfs ft. Jinbu - Habits

We welcome the immensely talented Blisstix and the melodically mesmerising 'Reawaken' ep to Sub-Label White, an electronica label from Sub-Label Recordings. 

This four track release is musical exploration of electronic styles; taking influence from everything around him, Blisstix blends together his experiences and emotions, into groove driven soundscapes with rich synth lines, depth, detail and space.

Opening with 'Why does the Universe go through all the bother of Existing?', Blisstix sets out the tone for the release with deep tones, wide space and an infectious groove. 'Jupiter's Moons' continues the theming and sound palette, while developing the exploration of electronica. 

Moving into the second half of the collection, 'Ambivalence' takes us through a more downtempo vibe with a playful use of width and space, with synths dancing in between the broken beats. Closing the ep with 'Redemption', with interchanging piano and synth lines that sit on a groove that is twisted and varied with the precision of a wizard.

aardonyx are a Drum & Bass production duo from the North-West of England. Since they formed in 2015 they have released music on labels such as Atmomatix Records, The Tech Collective, Nu Venture Records and Detached Audio. They have also been included in releases alongside the likes of Nemy, HumaNature and Silence Groove.

The pair have been making music together for over 15 years ago, starting by performing in bands together at college. This is also when they were first introduced to music production and studio recording. Since completing his Ba in Multimedia and Sonic Arts, Ben has worked in commercial studios and teaches music production and recording. During this time Andy has been honing his skills as a Drum & Bass DJ and producer.

More recently they have concentrated on making bass music around 174 bpm. Their wide variety of influences have meant their sound can range from melodic minimal halftime tracks to frantic heavy bass driven stompers. Using vintage synths, analogue hardware and digital workstations, they craft rich sounds and rolling beats as well as exploring abstract sounds.

Having moved away from Manchester they now operate from Plymouth and Chester respectively collaborating remotely and coming together to write music together in Manchester studios as often as possible. The pair are most proud of their 10-track album with its accompanying remix album including the likes of Zed Bias, DJ Ransome (Sy:Ran), Bizzmo (The Inflamers) and Conrad Subs, through Sub-Label Recordings.

aardonyx boast an impressive live set-up with 3 deck mixing and accompanying visuals being triggered and manipulated in real time. Performances of note include warming up for the likes of Monrroe and Satl at Fluid Movement events in the UK.
