Hybrid Dimension II. storybook:
Standing on the boat, the sun was rising and she could feel the cold wind on her face. The ocean was peacefully moving, slowly in perfect harmony. Soon they would reach the island. With joyful anticipation, they could already see it.

Weeks passed but the size of the island wouldn’t grow, it seemed that it didn’t matter what they did, they weren’t moving forward. Unnoticeably days were becoming shorter, the nights longer until everything was in complete darkness. Fights for the glowing stones and power started, and self-declared leaders established the wrong rules.

Suddenly everything was trembling and shaking with a loud noise. The boat had run aground. Under the rocks they discovered the ruins of a past empire. After a while, the stones weren’t glowing anymore. Everybody started to lose the sense of time and memories of faces faded until they became nothing but voices in the dark. They sounded more and more distressed and less human, some disappeared into the ocean forever.

She used to go back up to the boat, where in the cold darkness she would listen to the stories of the galaxy above. It was certainly a mistake that she was being trapped in a place, where she did not belong.

But there is a sort of light, so small that it can only be seen in the deepest darkness. It wasn’t there at the boat or ruins, where everybody was looking for it. It was inside of all of them.
When she realized the light was in herself, standing on the rocks, she tore her chest apart. The ray of light from her chest lifted her body, then crashed down into the waters and disappeared. Once again darkness engulfed everything.

Soon little spots started to light up. All over the black ocean the hearts of the floating dead, people of the past millennium started to shine.

The ocean dried up and on its soil trees sprouted out of the wizened bodies. The ruins of the past empire broke open and seeds from the future were falling from the blue sky. The rivers were filled with fish and on their shores, children were playing. And where once time seemed to have stopped, the present became one with the first dimension, which started with the hopeful excitement of new exotic expeditions.

Balancing ambient sound design alongside warm organic techno and ripples of delicate electronics; British-born, Canadian-based, Grammy-nominated composer, producer, and musical director @Matt-Robertson is set to release his new album ‘Enveleau’. It follows his warmly received ‘In Echelon‘ (2016) and ‘Entology’ (2018) albums, described as “symphonic electronica and leftfield techno that’s cinematic in scale” (Mixmag), “evocative, expansive, and original” (Electronic Sound), “magnificent...wild, electronic sound” (The Line Of Best Fit) and “Nils Frahm’s modern classical meets Jon Hopkins’ grainy techno” (MOJO).

“I love how the sonics of some records immediately put the listener in a comfortable space - just from the sound of an opening chord, you can be placed in a space and time. I am trying to achieve something similar to this on ‘Enveleau’, really concentrating on what the sounds make you feel, as a separate thing to what the harmony and the pitch make you feel. I’ve used a lot of different recordings I made outside, including natural textures wrapped into the drum sounds. It gives the record a sense of place.”

“Enveleau is a word I am taking to mean a sense of envelopment in your surroundings, and trying to take some comfort in that. In a sense, gratitude. The name also has a lot to do with water and how it flows along the easiest path. 2020 was a really challenging year for everyone. I think I found a sense of ease by concentrating on my family and getting outside if I could. The cover is a photo of an area near where I live, and it really captures a sense of the stillness that I have been trying to find within the past year.”

The single „Moving Forward“ preludes The Allegorist´s 4th album „Blind Emperor“ portraying the essence of a mythical land that tells of struggle that will lead to prosperity. The protagonist, the Blind Emperor, leads the charge into a brighter tomorrow. Like chapters from a novel, each track allows the listener to be carried by the story. „Moving Forward“, is fervorous with a sense of impending chaos. It has beguiling builds with an added punch while staying in line with the riveting sound design. The energy created within it has the listener in liberation but with a focused sense of direction. It is the foretaste of an epic, cinematic, choral, ambient techno album combining The Allegorist´s depictive, written and musical storytelling with a concept portrayed visually, orally and audibly to deliver another saga in her ever-evolving figments of fantasy. She wrote the included story and composed a poem that all combine to tell the tale of The Blind Emperor.

Berlin-based Anna Jordan aka The Allegorist has a background as a painter and having added music making to her arsenal of artistic skills, it’s perhaps no surprise that her productions are highly cinematic, instantly visually evocative pictures weaved in sound rather.  From Birth Until Death sees her utilising an array of field recordings from Berlin’s Grunewald Forest, from footsteps in the snow to faraway planes and dog’s barking, incorporating them into her own layered synths, deep bass bombs and electronic beats.  From the grandiose heralds, ghostly choirs and d&b-isms of ‘In My Blood’ to the cataclysmic blows of ‘Momentum’, it’s experimental music on a grand, ambitious scale, like the soundtrack to some internal memory movie that won’t let go.
