At the Vertex of Nothing

Stars and Dots is a solo project of Stephen Mahlstedt, a songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist from Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. Stephen is also involved in two other projects at the moment: Funeral at Tiffany's, and Grey Planet.

I'm merely like most other people. Not an entrepreneur but an adventurer in search of the greatest musical tracks that I can find in my small life time. I  search in the most uncommon of places for songs that have long since been past by and ignored because of the overwhelming popularity of other songs.  I essentially come along among the dust to breathe at least a minuscule amount of life back into these tracks, pulling them out of the dark and once again a bit more into the dim light. (hence my name)

I'm a wild card as far as the types of music I listen to, but I'm not entirely about indie music though, I can enjoy the occasional popular track or even delight in watching as a once forgotten musical piece grows popular, either way, I feel delighted and compelled by every note inside of these songs.

A big blow to the head – a whack, coming from the side, whizzing through the air and landing with a thump. The strenght, shattering, bending us to the ground.

We circled the world, looked at it, circling, seeing things that could not be processed.

In the dark of this awe, many, standing – silently looking.

We are where we are, see what we see, hear what we hear and feel what we feel.

We are those standing. We are those looking. We are those hearing.

We are those hit and we are those hitting.

We are the sick and the black, the disappointed and sad.

We are those unconvinced, we are the bent and the blown,

we are those who will always rise again.
