Love Can Be Hard Sometimes (prod. by KXLD)

A collaborative effort between myself, Chris Carpenter, Kristian 'Kc' Currington, and others.

This song started out life in my older brother's (Roger Guthrie Jr.) kitchen.  I penned the lyrics and arranged the vocals to a NAMELESS beat called 'Be Sure' (off of his BE[ats]ORIGINAL Vol. 2 beattape).  Little did I know that I would eventually be the frontman of my band Set Your Sights.  One of the band's guitarists/mutual friend (Amar Sagoo) started freestyling the riff and my ears perked up immediately.  Chris [being the legend that he is] picked it up almost immediately and the SYS boys and I eventually created our first acoustic ballad called 'Conviction.'  I loved it but I felt that was only the first stage of tune's evolution.  I suggested we added more power to the track, particularly at the end.  The lads obliged and eventually Conviction underwent metamorphosis yet again.

After Chris proposed to his now newly-wed wife Phoebe, he called me & KC, asking if we could create a special version of 'Conviction' for the bride and groom dance at his wedding.  Naturally, I obliged and KC happily offered his services to make this idea a reality.  Adding elements like a cello; acoustic & electric guitars; smooth bass; and additional lyrics, the track I concocted in Junior's kitchen shifted into something that I never thought possible.

If I do say so myself, this version of Conviction is without doubt the greatest musical achievement I've been apart of thus far.  Many, many thanks to every beyond-talented individual that's been apart of the creation of this beautiful song.
