This is a beard trimmer.....thought it made a rather interesting conclusion:)

This is a vacuum cleaner. The vocals follow the same note.

Something happened with the vacuum here  - the belt slipped I think. The tone changed so when I recorded the vocals I had to go up an octave!

I added a synth piece here to match that final tone and provide a counter balance to the beard trimmer on the other channel - also of similar key

I added a minimal syth here to give it some oomph and to add some depth

This is a compilation of songs that I have written from 1989 to the present around the theme of peace and compassion.

Songs were recorded and mastered on a variety of analog and digital devices. Many of the songs have been remastered for this album and several have never been released before.

I am excited to include two musical compositions with my spoken word poetry by Friture and T Hopkins.

When I Die

Johnny Got His Gun is an anti-war novel written in 1938 by American novelist and screenwriter Dalton Trumbo and published September 1939 by J. B. Lippincott. It won one of the early National Book Awards: the Most Original Book of 1939. It was also released as a film in 1971.

As a boy, I discovered the book in my parents' library and it had a profound effect on me. This song reflects that profundity.

Let's call this a kind of Neo-Folk Trance Fusion.

I had a lot of fun working with this song. It was originally recorded on a Tascam 424 in my home studio in West Virginia in the mid to late 90s as a series of so far unreleased recordings with Peter Sabath that predated Belly Hymns. (I loved this particular song so much I used it as the theme song for my PeaceGrooves Podcast). This version was edited and produced on a MS Surface using Audacity and Acid Pro 7.  This is best listened to with headphones or your speakers cranked up to 11. Enjoy!

Who am I? I am folk-gospel-blues-influenced singer/songwriter. I have a decent voice, though I am not classically trained. I am a self-taught guitar and mandolin player though I don’t consider myself an expert at either. I do play a pretty mean blues harp (yep, self taught too). Over the years, I have collaborated with other artists more talented than me who inspire me and have made me a better musician.

Bad Boll Productions: named after the springs in Germany known for their healing properties(and a center for the Blumhardts was the name of my 1990s era cabin studio in the mountains of West Virginia. Using Performa on an Apple Mac with an EMU Orchestral Synth, a Tascam 424 4-Track, and various other instruments and equipment with a number of collaborators, I experimented with and produced several analog neo folk electronica compositions. Later I was able to digitize these directly from the 4 Track originals. Many of these compositions have never been released (probably a good thing for some:) 

The Belly Hymns Project: refers to the CD Belly Hymns released near the end of this era and so the Belly Hymns Project is the landing place for the songs that predate Belly Hymns as well as remixes of the songs on Belly Hymns as well as newer related work. When she was pregnant with me, my mama says that I danced in her womb in time to the hymns at church. That’s probably where the name comes from. I’m still learning to keep letting the music move me.

The Lost Gap: is the current manifestation of Jeremiahs Run, my American Roots band from the 90s. Lost Gap, Miss. is my hometown. (theLostGap.com)
