Inner City Odyssey

The thing I love most about Burning Man is no matter how much you think you've prepared, you still never really know what to expect. The uncertainty, the excitement, the apprehension, and sometimes even the fear of what's just around the corner is what keeps so many of us coming back every year with a renewed childlike wonder - a feeling that seems to slip away as we get older. Sometimes everything goes right, and sometimes things just go wrong. 2014 was a mixed bag for me with some high highs (spending time with amazing people, getting to DJ in the best place in the world, seeing some incredible forms of expression) and low lows (namely falling hard on my back off of a see-saw putting me in constant pain for the entire week - it even hurt to laugh!)...but at the end of the day, I got exactly what I bargained for and couldn't ask for anything more: I experienced the unexpected.

In contrast to the previous two years on the bus, this year I played first on Friday night and took a little sonic stroll around different sounds and moods to open the night before Bedouin beautifully escalated the night into proper party mode...Pardon any sloppy mixing, we can just blame that on my aching back :)

Thanks to everyone who was there early in the night to catch my set, and thanks to everyone listening at home, Robot Heart, and Dr Burridge for the continued support over the years...Having the opportunity to do what I do is such a great gift from all of you.

Solid Steel in association with Serato (6th November) Following a summer touring live around the world we welcome Jungle to Solid Steel for a sneak preview of what they have in store for their upcoming and sold-out intimate loft show this Saturday 7th November in London. The XL Recordings artists have been riding the crest of a wave for the last few years with a Mercury nomination, AIM award and sell out shows, including an amazing set at Bestival this year. On Solid Steel, friends J & T go back to basics with a superb mix ahead of their DJ set on Saturday that includes quality selections from Flying Lotus, Tirzah, Joe, two tracks from Bullion, Floating Points, J Dilla, Dabrye and ending with a sublime version of Christo Redentor by Harvey Mandel.

Solid Steel Radio Show 6/11/2015 Hour 1 - Jungle

Sunday. That most hallowed of days. Be you just finishing your night out at an after, after party or just unwinding with a nice glass of vino, we embrace the end of the weekend for what it is, a chilled out affair.  Thus, we thought it was about time we started soundtracking this most underrated of times, asking our favourites DJs to dig through their record boxes and serve up something a little different for our brand new Chilled Transmission series.

After last weeks out from  from Johannes Albert, this week we sink further in to the sofa with a mix from Artikal as he serves up an hour set of set of selections designed primarily to make you feel, well human again.  As he puts it this mix is a "melancholy and trippy adventure to laid back bliss with a journey through late night London before heading back to Ibiza for the sunset."

Art piece: Mechan 9 

Mechan 9 is the newest creation from Tyler FuQua Creations.  It is a giant fallen metal robot that is half-buried in the ground.  Over thirty five feet in diameter and six feet tall at his heart chamber, Mechan 9 is shrouded in mystery!  Decode the strange text on his body to reveal the secrets of not only his past, but of the universe as well.  Mechan 9 was built by an amazing crew and with the help of a Burning Man art grant in 2016 where it made its debut.
