Having been in the army, I wanted to be in the army.  And I indeed was offered a regular commission at the end of my National Service, which I was very tempted to take, I have to say.  But my father made it clear really that I had to decide whether I wanted to be in the army, or if he wasn’t going to keep the business going on his own for… or without assistance.  And so I had to think about that one.  So in the end I came out and decided that to train for the wine trade was the right thing to do.
