Hey guys! If you thought funk ended with the 70s you're wrong. The Horndogz are still holding it down here in 2013 with that raw funk sound! I've been following them for a while after hearing one of their tracks on Wefunk Radio and I ended up asking them for the parts to this song so I could do a remix. A funk legend and one of my biggest inspirations. Wow.

Timewarp Music regular Zamali impresses greatly with this seven-track release. The unhurried, atmospheric 'Ashanti's Groove' paves the way for what is undoubtedly the collection's standout track, the superbly low-slung and hypnotic 'Funky Friday', after which you get four dreamy, mostly instrumental workouts that blend funk, hip-hop and jazz influences with hints of world music before the excellent 'Video Control' plays us out in fine funk style with its Hammond parps, wukka-wukking geetars and what may or may not be sound snips from a Bob Marley interview. Sadly, as Timewarp's not a big corporate label with a huge marketing budget, 'True Blue' probably won't get half the attention it deserves - so do yourself a favour and become one of the lucky few that are in the know!

X-Ray Ted continues to show why he is rising so fast, with each release building on his talent for delivering knockout grooves. This could quite possibly be his strongest release to date with Bombstrikes. 'Mirror Ballin' kicks things off on a disco groove with driving beats pushing the bass along seamlessly that cements this tracks place as dance floor gold. Next up, 'Get Into It' slows the pace down a little but still delivers just as much punch with funk hooks and clever vocal work. Rounding the pack off nicely is 'Never Gonna Let 'Em Say' with its breakbeats, guitar hooks and deep bass drops to ensure that the track hits where it is supposed to.

We love this EP and cannot wait to hear more from the Bristol based producer.

The Captain has created a unique signature sound taking inspiration from the golden decades of classic rhythm and blues, soul, latin, hip-hop, and rock-n-roll and mixing it with modern dance music and beats.  The distinct and diverse groove he creates in his productions attracts fans from different musical genres and styles.  

His highly praised output of vinyl and digital releases on labels such as Resense, Goodgroove, ESL, BBP, and Ghetto Funk have been consistently topping the Juno Charts the last several years.
