RePlumped - Mixtape - Plump Djs

This set was first performed on January 1st 2024 in San Francisco at the Breakfast of Champions block party on the Space Cowboys main stage.

A RE:CONSTRUCTED set is a *long* way removed from a standard DJ set. It's a live/hybrid set.

Simon takes hundreds of tracks from his huge library, painstakingly deconstructs them (using Ai if needed to separate elements from the original tracks), and then pieces everything back together to create a hugely emotive and immersive musical story.

He uses Ableton Live and multiple controllers to trigger up to 16 individual channels of audio at any one time during the performance, and also performs live keyboard overdubs. The end result is a hugely addictive, compulsive and compelling blend of music that's often new, often familiar but always utterly unique.

Breakbeat Breakfast Reconstructed - Jan 2024

Throwback to 2004 and the legendary ‘Fuzzy Breaks’ parties in Sydney! To be honest I thought the guys were crazy for trying to take breaks to a bigger stage like the Metro in Sydney. But those parties blew up and before long the guys had expanded to the Hordern Pavillion which was wild! I’ll be honest, I don’t actually remember this party (Fuzzy Winter Breaks 2004 at the Hordern Pavillion) ha ha but thankfully I have an extremely rare live recording of my set from this party which you can peep right here! I was quite fond of the flanger back then as you will see! Ha ha! Enjoy! RIP MC Conrad X

Community Service - Episode #152 (March 28, 2016)

So it recently dawned on me that this year marks 10 years since I had my first support gig at Ambar back in 2006 playing before Dopamine – 10 bloody years!!
Since then music has taken me all over Australia and overseas and allowed me to connect with people all over the world that would have never been possible had it not been for our mutual interest in music.
So I think it’s about time I did a mix paying tribute to that awesome time in my life – the gigs/parties/after parties/boat parties and festivals.
Flashing back to 2004 – 2006 I couldn’t get away without paying respect to Kid Kenobi who single handedly got me and most of the people I know into Djing at the time. 
I learnt to mix by listening to his breaks mixes on repeat. 
So this mix is as much a tribute to him as it is to the talented artists included in it.

Froe, Gav and Merf made up the nu-skool breaks collective The Breakfastaz, known in the early 2000's for their unique sound and a heavy hitter in the Tear Out Breaks scene at that time. With other musical projects going on later in their careers the lads gained a huge following leading them touring the world, releasing over 20 successful tracks and remixes for top labels such as Passenger, Mob & Against The Grain. In 2005 the Breakfastaz won Best Breakthrough Act at the Breakspoll World Breakbeat Awards.

This mix was recorded for Australia's Triple J Radio network back in July 2007.

The original members of the Freestylers are Matt Cantor and Aston Harvey who started off their musical careers in the mid 1990's. They released their first two albums ‘We Rock Hard’ and ‘Pressure Point’ on the legendary Breakbeat label Freskanova. The third and forth albums ‘Raw as F**k’ and ‘Adventures in Freestyle’ were released on ‘Against The Grain’another Breaks power house based label. Their last album from 2013 ‘The Coming Storm’ was released through Black Hole Recordings. 

The Freestylers began their career as an Urban Electronic Music Act, and their early tunes ‘B-Boy Stance,’ ‘Ruffneck’ and ‘Warning’ set the marker. As their music progressed so did their anthems with the seminal tunes ‘Punks’, ‘Boom Blast’, ‘Fasten Your Seat-Belts,’ ‘Painkiller’ and more recently ‘Cracks.’ In addition to their status as underground heroes, they have gained commercial success with their huge global hit ‘Push Up’ and have had their music featured in TV and film, including the hugely successful comedy film Zoolander.

This mix was recorded for Australia's Triple J Radio back in 2004.
