Irish independent Andrew Morrison (The Cyclist, Buz Ludzha, etc.) returns as Indopan with a 70-minute suite of jazzy kinetics, lysergic breaks, and dusted swing: In Opulence.

Inspired by a recent haul of modified rig acquisitions, including a Wurlitzer 206A, Korg Polysix, and analog Soviet drum brain called the Marsh UDS, the album skews his signature “tape throb” sound through a warmer, warbly lens, streaked with grit and sepia haze.

Morrison mentions themes of unattainable desire and hidden fracture as touchstones (“the breaking at the seams of a smile”), which are especially apparent in his two collaborations with vocalist Elaine Howley (“Shore Ellipsis” and “Antigreed”).

But, throughout, the songs churn, burn, and billow with elusive movement, sweeping through rolling hills and misty city streets, in the shadow of uneasy futures.

The half-Finnish, half-Estonian duo LLL add a distinctly Baltic outsider edge to the classic combo of Chicago Jackin' House meets UK sound system culture. The fellas tap an arsenal of original gear rescued and revived over the years to create hyper-saturated textures, thuggish rhythmic beats, squelchy acidic synths and mischievous microphone miscellany.

FINE returns with his brand new single ‘New Discovery’, a hypnotic and deeply textured cut that showcases his ability to balance intricate detail with dancefloor energy. Featuring Liverpool-based harpist and DJ Mia Mai, the track begins with delicate, atmospheric layers before steadily evolving into a euphoric, groove-driven finale. Anchored by FINE’s atmospheric production and elevated by Mia Mai’s striking harp performance, ‘New Discovery’ bridges the electronic and organic in a way that feels both timeless and forward-facing.

This project of mine, is an attempt to get to a time in electronic music, where everything sounds warmer, like with the more techno-ey tunes by throbbing gristle maybe abit like what geogaddi by boards of canada got across,but with a whole other meaning with a more dancable edge of new order. This needed to be done and needs to be done more. let's call it Tape Throb for now.
