Flowers and Feathers

Yesterday I thought that I would have to be
exactly who I am today.

Yesterday I was certain of all the nuances
and life seemed to be heading straight.

Yet I woke up to realise that all I had was a broken compass.

An apprentice in the art of faith

Misled by superstitions of reality
I found myself gathering fragments of an old map

A cup of bittersweet irony
A pinch of a fine seasoning

Long travelled, brought from a lost land
The beauty of the thin line between poetry and madness

The hourglass however, does not flip over

Ever

Yesterday my garden had flowers
I had colourful dreams

And on my shoulders, nothing but feathers

Despair is reaching a book for guidance.
Opening on its last pages, hoping that it's closure
will enlighten your fears

An illusion in an ocean of tears

The misperception of choice, will take away from you

years and years ...

Seagulls are flying in circles
Announcing the incoming storm

Feathers are falling from the sky
Flowers were brought onboard

Nothing but old bonds and memories
for what is now long gone.

A pirate sailing through life,
living the dreamer's dream.

Unveiling mysteries and digging for treasure,
so I thought, and so it seems.

Everything there belongs, nothing is in vain.
I shall not take!
For what is there has never been mine.

With the flowers and feathers, it shall remain.
