an Francisco’s Dream Chimney officially began in 2018 but its genesis goes much further back. First an electronic music project in ‘97 while experimenting on demos and late-night college radio sessions. In 2000 Dream Chimney continued as a collaborative music platform known for its passionate music community. For over 20 years DC has been a knowledgeable source exposing and sharing exciting new music discoveries. The label was born with a focus on lo-fi Balearic, new age, dance, and synth pop, with releases from Sorcerer, Memorex and Po-One, and compilations that have included Vision of Panorama, Max Essa, Trujillo, Hatchback, Rollmottle, Faint Waves and more.

 

This summer Dream Chimney welcomes Cuerpo Docente to the roster, an instrumental trio from Santiago, Chile. Drawing from backgrounds in DJing, composition, production, and improvisation, they formed in 2018 playing full improv sets in experimental dance spaces in Santiago.  Inspired by the music of Herbie Hancock, Larry Heard, King Tubby, and The Rotating Assembly, their mutual interests coalesced into a synth-based, minimalist, restrained yet playful musical landscape. In 2021 they decided to self-produce an album of original compositions and improvisations edited in a style reminiscent of Can and Miles Davis’ Bitches Brew. The result is a kaleidoscopic album that boldly features jazz, funk, dance, dub, and a multitude of leftfield sonics.

File Under Balearic Gabba EP is the first in a new series of serious DJ tools that will encompass remixes, edits, originals and licenses, all with artwork that is a twist on the original Balearic Gabba logo by PlanetLuke. Up first is a new selection of music from core Hell Yeah artists that is unruly, impossible to define, and sure to twist dance floors inside out.

First up is Daniel Klein better known as SIRS, a Berlin-based mainstay with releases on the likes of Live At Robert Johnson.  His cut of Caramel 3000' 'Super Rapido' is a dubbed-out blend of kosmiche chug and tropical percussion. Tumbling synth sequences bring extra colour as the groove builds over nine irresistible minutes. 

Then comes Japanese downtempo master Calm with his Mellow Mellow Acid Dub of Sergio Messina & The Four Twenties's 'Sometimes Remember' which is a nostalgic acid daydream and the perfect sunset soundtrack. Melancholic moods and lazy drums sink you in deep as the gentle acoustic guitars keep you afloat.  

Label regular and Internasjonal and International Feel associate Feel Fly then comes through with an Estatico Danzante Remix of Pedro Bertho's 'Tornei' feat Mariana Gehring and takes us to the stars on twinkling keys, dusty breakbeats and steamy, worldly vocals that glow as warm as a setting sun. 

Last of all is New York maestro and Loose Control Band member DJ Spun with his It's Rong Remix of My Friend Dario's 'Acid Mosquito in a Summer Night'. It finds him serving up a nine-minute excursion into jungle humidity with tribal percussion and jumbled bongos all run through with a spooky and primeval lead synth over lurching drum breaks.

The debut release from Thanksmate on Soul Express Records, SEX001, is a journey into the deep and groovy side of house music, blending 90s influences with contemporary, sophisticated club sounds. Across the six tracks, the record moves between lush, dreamy melodies and hypnotic, driving rhythms that create an immersive experience both for the dancefloor and for introspective listening. The EP pulls from a wide palette of inspirations: the raw energy of early Chicago house, the emotive textures of Balearic beats, and the gritty funkiness of Italo house. Each track brings its own vibe—some leaning towards warm, soulful grooves, others more minimal and punchy—while staying true to the Thanksmate signature sound: elegant yet playful, with a focus on analog textures and timeless vibes. SEX001 feels like a love letter to late-night sets, where subtle details, storytelling, and deep cuts reign supreme.
