4人組アンビエント・ユニット UNKNOWN ME が 資生堂提供曲を含むEP “ORE EP” をレコード＆デジタルでリリース！　Buffalo Daughterのムーグ山本によるリアレンジ曲も収録。

やけのはら、P-RUFF、H.TAKAHASHIの作曲担当3人と、グラフィック・デザインおよび映像担当の大澤悠大によって構成される4人組アンビエント・ユニット「UNKNOWN ME」が、資生堂の企業文化誌「花椿」企画用に制作した楽曲を含む3曲入りEPを、レコード&デジタルでセルフ・リリースする。

1曲目に収録されている "The Universe in Ore" は、「花椿」2021年秋冬号の特集「花椿アンビエント」のために制作された楽曲で、宮沢賢治という企画全体のテーマを踏まえ、宮沢賢治が生涯を通じて愛情を注いだ「鉱石」をイメージして制作された。美しく浮遊感のあるスペーシーな雰囲気の中にどこかミステリアスな要素も含んだ、不思議と耳に残る没入感のある内容となっている。

2曲目には、UNKNOWN MEの活動初期からライブだけで披露されていた人気曲 "Lost in Night Market" を収録。「ポリリズム・ガムラン」といった趣きの異国情緒を感じさせる楽曲となっており、複雑に絡み合うリズムは、リスナーを「どこでもないどこか」へといざなう。

3曲目には、"The Universe in Ore" をBuffalo Daughterのムーグ山本がリアレンジした楽曲を収録。"Hana Tsubuyaki Version" と銘打たれた本曲では、原曲の素材に合わせて、Shoko(VVOOL)によるバイオリン、ムーグ山本自身によるボイス、砥石を使ったスクラッチ、フィールド・レコーディングなど、様々な音像が奇跡的なバランスで調和した、まるでムーグ山本の脳内宇宙を垣間見ているかのような唯一無二の楽曲となっている。

本作はデジタルの他に、”The Universe in Ore" 、"The Universe in Ore (moOog yamamOTO - Hana Tsubuyaki Version)" の2曲を収録した、ダイレクト・カッティングによる温かみのあるLO-FI音質のモノラル7inchレコードが30枚限定でリリースされる。人気デザイナー大澤悠大によるハンドメイド・ジャケットに、「宇宙鉱石シール」、「UNKNOWN MEシール」、未発表曲を含む60分超えのライブ音源を収録したCD-R "UNKNOWN SESSION Vol.2" が付属する充実の内容。

UNKNOWN MEは、2022年7月にも、資生堂「fibona」が開発した香り製品「リトリートスティック」とコラボレートした楽曲を、花椿のWEBサイトで発表。9月17日には、横浜・みなとみらいにある資生堂の都市型オープンラボ「S/PARK」で無料ライブを実施する。

2023年9月に創業158年を迎えた京都の茶問屋、宇治香園が提唱する “Tealightsound” シリーズ第10弾は、ind_frisによるアルバム『森と雨』。今作はそのアルバム1曲目“森”を映像作家/音楽家の YAMAAN が映像化したもので、同時に光と音で茶を表現する ”Tealightsound” のコンセプトを具現化したものにもなっている。

Tokyo trip-ambient unit UNKNOWN ME make transportive vignettes with minimal means: soft-focus static, translucent loops, muted metronomes, field recordings. Comprised of DJ / producer Yakenohara, radloop label boss P-RUFF, electronic texturalist H. Takahashi (Constellation Tatsu, Where To Now?, birdFriend), and art director Osawa Yudai, the group’s sophomore offering, subtropics, furthers the fantasy Zen garden miniatures of their 2016 debut, sunday void. Whereas that collection themed itself as an innerspace voyage of domestic leisure, their latest journeys outward, 
a lucidly dreamed globe-trot across continents, cities, and coastlines. Dazed tones spiral gracefully against hushed backdrops of floating chimes, distant wildlife, and prismatic vapor. These are less songs than spaces, blissed synthetic bio-domes awaiting habitation. Eight illusions of worlds unrealized, pleasures UNKNOWN.

「UNKNOWN ME」は、DJ・プロデューサーのやけのはら、radloopレーベル主宰P-RUFF、Constellation Tatsu、Where To Now?、birdFriendから電子音楽作品をリリースしているH.TAKAHASHI、アート・ディレクターのOsawa Yudaiによって構成されており、グループとして2本目の贈り物である「subtropics」は、かれらの2016年のデビュー作"sunday void”が持つ、ファンタジーな禅庭園のミニチュア的世界観から更に歩を進めている。

UNKNOWN MEはこれまでに3作品をリリースしており、2017年には、亜熱帯をテーマにした作品「subtropics」が、英国「FACT Magazine」の注目作に選ばれた。また、アンビエント・リバイバルのキー・パーソン「ジジ・マシン」の来日公演や、電子音楽×デジタルアートの世界的な祭典「MUTEK」にも出演している。

このアルバムは、電子頭脳のガイドと共に旅をする都市生活者のための環境音楽であり、心と体の未知の美しさを探求するイマジネイティブ・サウンドスケープとなっている。
ニューエイジ、バレアリック、電子音楽といった様々な要素を内包した、多彩な曲調のアンビエント・メディテーションは、神聖な不思議さを持って蜃気楼と共に揺らめき、光り輝く。

聴きやすくも深遠な、繰り返しのリスニングにも耐えうる完成度を誇るこのアルバムには、素晴らしいゲスト・ミュージシャンとのコラボレーションも収録されている。
電子音で、世界的に活躍するトラックメイカー「食品まつり」、伝説の奇才「ジム・オルーク」が参加。
また、片想い、ザ・なつやすみバンド、うつくしきひかり、といったバンドのメンバーとしても知られる変幻自在のマルチ・プレイヤー「MC.sirafu」がスティールパンで、同じく、ザ・なつやすみバンド、うつくしきひかりのメンバー「中川理沙」がハーモニック・コーラスで桃源郷の彩りを添える。
未知の惑星で撮影したかのような幻想的なアーティスト写真は、気鋭の写真家「Ichisei Hiramatsu」が撮影している。

The inaugural LP by Tokyo Metropolis electronica entity UNKNOWN ME, Bishintai, is a sublime synthetic suite of cosmic wellness transmissions exploring “the unknown beauty of your mind and body,” appropriately named for a kanji compound meaning “beauty, mind, body.” Crafted with software, synthesizer, steel drum, rhythm boxes, and robotic voice by the core quartet of Yakenohara, P-RUFF, H. Takahashi, and Osawa Yudai, the album unfolds like a holographic guided meditation, soothing but cybernetic, framed by subways and sky malls. Latticework electronics flicker with texture, glitch, wobble, and mirage, themed around sensory perception and body parts.

A diverse cast of collaborators assist in actualizing the collection's uniquely urban expression of new age ambient, from psychedelic footwork riddler foodman to multi-instrumentalist institution Jim O'Rourke to Japanese underground shape-shifters MC.Sirafu and Lisa Nakagawa. Although the group cites a therapeutic muse (“made for the maintenance of the minds of city dwellers”), Bishintai shimmers with an alien strangeness, too, like decentralized relaxation systems obeying sentient circuits. This is music of utopia and nowhere, channeling worlds within worlds, birthed from a sonic ethos as simple as it is sacred: “in pursuit of beautiful tones.”
