Maricopa returns to Back To The Balearics to complete his stunning opus, Pastel Love. And he continues where he left off building deeply textured songs packed full of simple melodies that really shine. His music opts for subtle feelings and passing vibes over the more obvious structures of ‘dance music’. The release of Part One led to a number of comparisons with the early work of Aphex Twin as well as more contemporary producers such as Four Tet. Such comparisons don’t come lightly, but Pastel Love demonstrates that a rare musical talent has arrived. The release again has beautiful printed covers and looks as good as it sounds. Viva Maricopa!

The first two sides of original versions read like an album, perfect for a lazy Sunday rooftop BBQ with beers, bros and blunts, (although no doubt some of these gems will find their way into DJs' warm-up and boom-bap sets). Heralding a new phase in his artistic life, Glaswegian producer Vince Watson introduces his new alias ‘Quart’ with the cinematic masterpiece ’Life Is Beautiful’.
Vince has laid a trail of musical breadcrumbs leading to the ‘Quart’ sound throughout his 20 year musical career; sublime, peaceful and melodic moments which shone out, even amongst his impressive dance music productions. Tracks like ‘Solitude’, ‘Never Too Late’, ’Every Soul Needs A Guide’ and his ‘Serene LP’ all hinted at an ethereal alter-ego behind Watson, but ‘Life Is Beautiful’ sees Quart emerge from the shadows to stand alone for the first time.
Quart takes its name from ‘The Watson Quartet’, which as Vince explains “was me playing everything anyway, so it’s now simply been reduced to Quart”. This explanation perfectly reflects the project’s musical aesthetic; Vince has clearly been through a creative process of reduction and distillation to reach the uncluttered calm of ‘Life Is Beautiful’.
“The influences for Quart are coming from classical, jazz and broken beat; I’ve naturally just evolved some of the music I was making as Vince Watson into something a little bit purer. This is something i’ve been wanting to do for a long time.”
At times displaying shades of Ludovico Einaudi, at others showing flashes of 4Hero, Vince’s free-flowing piano playing and natural ear for melody stand out throughout ‘Life Is Beautiful’, while fans of his house and techno output will be pleased to find Vince Watson’s unique sonic fingerprints all over the album.

Inspired by the birth of his daughter Winni in 2016, Vince describes the album as “a celebration of life, my most accomplished album technically to date and a beautiful way for Winni to reflect on her Dad’s achievements one day.”

Our next release on the Kolour mothership is a bit of a special one for us as we debut the first full solo EP of DEBONAIR.

2012 has definitely been a landmark year for Conor Bevan aka DEBONAIR. He's seen a string of success on various V/A releases with his smash hit tunes such as "Why", "Your Love", "Mellow Mellow" and a few other along the way.

We're proud to present to you a more intimate & musical side of Conor with his inaugural solo EP with four tunes of all shapes, sizes, and colors. Tunes for any mood, taste, or occasion(s) all lie within the ranks of the "Rhodes To Nowhere" EP - a labor of love that we're most pleased to finally be able to release.

Medlar: Absolutely love the first 2, imagine I'll play them a lot. Great release, my favourite Kolour release this year!

Tobias (Local Talk): Very impressed by the diversity of the EP, all very good tracks. I do predict many great releases in the future for DEBONAIR if it will continue like this.

Aaron Dae (Razor N Tape): I rarely dole out a 10/10, but this EP is well deserving! Every track is great and "Rivage" & "Ocean Drive" are REALLY doing it for me...

Sleazy Beats: Boys! Nice one here, more stuff for the sleazy mixsets - Utopia is a slice of shimmering badassery that is no doubt my pick. Also loving the mega-beatdown vibes of Ocean Drive. Will be playing them all though I'm sure.

David (House of Disco): Great to see one of our housemates spreading his wings with such confidence and strength. There's a beautiful coherance to these tracks even though they are all so different. I think 'Rhodes to nowhere' edges it for me, I just love how it takes off ushering the end of the sunset and the beginning of the night. Dapper Disco if ever I've heard it.

Ron Shiller: Great release!! Rivage is a killer. I also like ocean drive - nice downtempo biz..! Gonna play. Thanks.

James (Sccucci Manucci): Damn sexy EP... really great stuff, it is probably the first time I have struggled to pick an out and out killer track, they are all so good!
