Corona Queens born, but with a long formative stretch growing up in Nebraska, and from Jamaican roots, (Derrick Harriott is an uncle), Brooklyn's Duane Harriott is as unique and specific as that trajectory indicates. One of our longtime NY peeps, Duane has always taken his own path and carved out a meaningful sensibility away from the various trends that come and go. (bearded hipster take note!) One of the founding residents of NYC's famed APT, Duane has played at pretty much every significant NY spot high and low for the past 15 years. One of the leading producers and remixers in contemporary dance music, Cambridge raised Ray Mang, (Raj Gupta) hardly needs an intro. Under the name Ray Mang, (also under Laj, Sir Raymond Mang, Block 16, & Motif) he has written and recorded tracks with people like Jon Lucien, Bim Sherman, Jhelisa, Kier Kerby, Robert Owens and Mozez. He has also remixed tracks for disco heroes like Roxy Music, Banda Black Rio, Terry Callier, Freddie Mercury, Beck, Shirley Bassey, Bryan Ferry and Grace Jones amongst others. You can find his remixes and original material on labels like Bearfunk, DFA, Eskimo, Under the Shade, Noid, and his own Mangled label. Raj is a busy man with tons of stuff coming out, so we are very happy he made time for this great set. "This mix reflects the kind of energy we try to channel through Paradia: cosmic grooves, deep chug, leftfield rhythms, and a journey that drifts between downtempo and dancefloor. It's built around a steady, heady energy with tracks that keep momentum without big peaks or obvious drops. I'd say it's more about subtle shifts and hypnotic builds rather than hands-in-the-air moments, leaning on slow-burners and deeper cuts that open up over time. I recorded it at home in Delhi on a rainy monsoon Sunday, and the weather definitely set the tone: steady rain outside, heavy air, and that influenced the pacing and selections. The name of the mix comes from a track on our upcoming Paradia EP, tying it back to what we’re building with the label."

This new VA offers a journey through contemporary soundscapes, where sound, texture, and
rhythm interacts with fluidity. Nine productions revolve around a shared balance of energy,
space, and emotional depth, creating a continuous sonic flow.

The journey opens with Cyberlife, delivering a dark, soft introduction, a slowed-down break
with percussive undertones, perfect for easing into the immersion. The energy builds with
Jafadan, driven by a dub groove and resonant toms, gradually adding depth to the sonic
material. Hohe continues the ascent with a tribal, textured track, built on repetition and
vibration in an organic loop with hypnotic tension. Mersel pushes the narrative into an
analog and psychedelic dimension, with massive basses and expansive synths. Solarythm
steps in with a faster tempo and granular, trancy layers, where heavy bass intertwines with a
hypnotic melody. Fonzo shifts the journey into a sci-fi universe, combining break rhythms
and dissonant synths to create an evolving, kinetic soundscape. The duo Sublife (Sub Accent
and Cyberlife) delivers percussive, introspective techno, enriched with airy pads and
breathing analog textures. Yunze Ou initiates the descent with a slow, melodic track, deeply
rooted in deep sensibilities. The compilation closes with an ambient, cinematic track by 矯激
[Radical], whose deep basses open a space of suspension, somewhere between sci-fi and
dreamlike reverie.

One of the best things about organising parties is looking and listening back to the moments and music shared. Sometimes the stars align and everything goes well with recording those moments, but most of the times it doesn't. :D

After our party with Good Block there was a week where this recording was playing on repeat. It was just so good. So we wanted to share it with you, despite the sound being a bit rough around the edges starting around 1h. So here it is, 2 out of 4h of what some say was the most fun mix in Orbita history.
