Unbeyond Anthologies are pleased to present a devastating single from rising act TWYLIGHT, “farewell o memory mine (and everlasting psychic wound)”.

A profoundly harrowing shoegaze and noise rock track, this is not a release for the faint of heart. Emotional turmoil is reflected in the explosive production and soul-crushing progressions, making for a song that will certainly strike an emotional chord.

“Originally, this was just the final song of the TWYLIGHT project's debut album, one of a few interpretations of trauma and dissociation in music form. Now, it's the closest and most accurate interpretation we've made yet. This is not an easy listen, and was just as hard to write. Created in the middle of May 2025, we were compelled to rewrite and make a new version of this specific song that’s all about trauma, dissociation, and the severe disconnection and conflict caused by it, in order to vent out built-up emotion. By the time we finished the track, the migraine headache was so severe. This is all that pain. This is a mental spiral made into song form.” said the band. “We hope this track brings those with similar experiences comfort, or a way to understand and learn. You are not alone.”

RELEASE DATE: MARCH 16TH, 2018

The Uni series began when Alva Noto was booked to play live at the club UNIT in Tokyo, and had to adapt his sound accordingly for that environment.

‘UNIEQAV’ follows-on from and develops the concept of Alva Noto’s ‘Unitxt’ and ‘Univrs’ albums, and completes the third part in the trilogy, whereby each record is both unique and part of the bigger picture. This is also mirrored in the artwork for each release, which when combined form a triptych spelling ‘Uni’.

Described by Carsten as “sonically representing an underwater dive”, the gleaming ‘UNIEQAV’ brings as usual an inherent artistic, conceptual and scientific depth. Mathematics, data, unit systems, grids, rhythms, codes, text, language, spoken word, DNA, science technology and nature are all utilised, for both inspiration and execution.

As with the last two Uni releases, the French sound poet Anne-James Chaton collaborates here, on ‘Uni Dna’. Where on previous records Chaton first provided a vocal track to which Nicolai composed, this time the duo flipped it; the poet wrote for an existing track, adding his unique vocal approach to recite amino acids that constitute the DNA molecule.

Regarding Carsten’s interest in 3D sound design and building sonic spaces, ‘UNIEQAV’ transports the listener to a modern, spacious and zen-like place for meditative movement. But conversely the album works equally well in a dark club - as for every glistening digital spark and simple, emotive melody - there’s a stealthy bassline, frenetic drum pattern and colossal low-end thump.

Six years on since his latest appearance on the label’s main series, Stroboscopic Artefacts boss Luca Mortellaro, aka Lucy, returns with ‘Dyscamupia’ – an introspective, multisensory techno triptych revolving around the core sequence of Albert Camus’ classic existentialist novel, ‘The Stranger’. Also known as the ‘killing of an arab’, this pivotal moment in Camus’ seminal book – which also inspired The Cure their song ‘Killing An Arab’ back in the day, is here evoked through three variedly intense, deep and hypnotic techno variations – flexing from 120 to 130, onto 140 BPM – each of them translating a particular step in the author’s minute, focal-shifting depiction of the unknown man’s murder on the beach.   

Embodying Meursault for a minute, Jason Snell lends his voice to the narrator and his inner demons, casting a strange, ominous spell on the club and its crowd. Willing to explore and dig up further into the textural wealth and crucial warmth of organic sounds and synthetic treatments, Lucy made wise use of the binaural microphones technology during the vocals recording process, greatly enhancing the immersive force of his compositions to create thoughtful, dystopic narrative bubbles that stand in their own right.

The first number, ‘ Dyscamupia (Forward)’, happens before and right until the actual killing – hence time flowing at a metronomic, heartbeat-like tempo; the second cut ‘Dyscamupia (Pause)’ takes place right after the nameless man’s death, when the narrator enters a kind of existential ‘pause’ and a whole new flow of consciousness begins; the third sequence, ‘Dyscamupia (Backward)’, plumbs the depths of the action itself as played backwards, like an equally hazed-out and dizzying reminiscence of the sad encounter’s mechanism. Don’t let its seemingly conceptual framework fool you though, like most of his past output ‘Dyscamupia’ also aims to bring dancefloors to a steady simmer, whilst maintaining Lucy’s ascending momentum towards an all-round genre-busting, thought-provoking apex.
