Unusual and alternative sounds, experimentation in rhythm and melodic alterations: all of this is The Flying Mars project. Mario Engel, hailing from the green valleys in the middle of the Swiss Alps, was always in contact with different genres and had a good ear for many kinds of music. Now, with his “The Flying Mars” project he wants to channel all of his auditory and composing experiences into a mind-bending mix of creativity, giving his contribution to the already variegated world of electronic music.

The Flying Mars combines Psy-Dub, Ambient, Psy-Chill, as well as Drum & Bass and Psy-Trance, with flowing rhythms and deep bass lines. Through variations, mixing, tests and sonic atom splitting, The Flying Mars’ project strives to simultaneously stimulate mind, body and soul.

Fueled by nature and equipped with a field recorder, He set out on his journey; recording every sound, Paying close attention to his surroundings while capturing the essence of the here and now. 

You are invited to relive this journey and state of mind. Listen closely and you will be able to feel the exact sensations, smell the same smells, and hear the same sounds that were heard during the creative process – which is deeply rooted in the heart and soul of this unique artist. 

This is the second Album of Mario Engel, from Switzerland. With his main project - “The Flying Mars”, he is always in search of new sounds, oblique sonorities, and exhilarating vibes. Sati (Sanskrit: सती / satī) is derived from the name of the goddess Sati, it is a historical practice. The track utilizes a triplet driven base around a solid bass, fitting in a brooding and dark atmosphere, filled with twisted sounds and a speech describing a daily mental practice.
Maktub contains more melodic contents, a fusion of different influences. Between sampled instrumental elements, arps and synth lines create a colorful balance to drive the listener to a cordial place somewhere in the middle east.
Songbeam is a collaboration with UK midtempo producer Tryptich. It combines melancholic atmospheres and textures with driving beats and bass to create an emotive, yet funky journey.
Rainfall transforms a beautifully sad Hungarian folk song into a seven minute long psychedelic glitch-trip.
