“Project Greenlight” is the HBO docu-series that follows a newbie director as he makes his first feature film. But the current season has become something more than that. It’s generated a storm of attention and conversation, largely catalyzed by on-screen moments with Effie Brown, who was hired to produce the movie at the center of the TV series. Brown is an experienced movie producer ("Dear White People," "Real Women Have Curves") and an outspoken advocate for diversity in Hollywood, both behind the camera and on-screen. Much of the conflicts in the "Project Greenlight" have stemmed from conversations about diversity and representation.
