Shindig Festival 2023 part 1

Saturday 25th of May I stood in a sunny field at The Church of Love were I played my last ever set at the amazing Shindig Festival.

This was recorded in one take before the weekend as practice so you guys could hear it how I played it. No post production, just one take. I tried to apply the mix of genres I love and am known for into one set. hip hop, mid tempo breaks, R&B, house, jackin house and breaks.

Thanks to the Shindig team for having me over the years and Father Funk for letting me play on his stage at the last one.

Funk The World 80

This summer I had the awesome opportunity to DJ a 30min funk meets hip hop set at the Fool's Leap stage at Boomtown Fair, an incredible immersive UK festival. It's taken me awhile, but I finally re-recorded the mix, and I'm quite proud of it.

The band who were on after me (Mischa and His Merry Men) had something like 11 members and it took them a while to setup, so I got to go a little past my 30minutes.

World Circuit avait publié deux albums de cumbia colombienne en 1990 et en 1993. 
Aujourd'hui « Cumbia Cumbia 1&2 », réunit les deux albums d'origine, remasterisés accompagnés d’un livret avec photos très documenté.

Choisie parmi des milliers de morceaux, la sélection rassemble trente des plus grands enregistrements du genre, parus sur le légendaire label colombien Discos Fuentes entre 1950 et 1988.

« Cumbia Cumbia 1&2 » est un concentré de tous les styles, des plus traditionnels aux plus ambitieux, qui donnent à la cumbia sa richesse rythmique et sa couleur si distinctive et irrésistible. Un son marqué par un tempo bondissant, une ligne de basse pulsant comme dans le rocksteady, couverts de percussions fortes et rurales, de cuivres, d'accordéon, de clarinette, de guitare électrique et de chants.

Avec les plus grand hits de Rodolfo y su Tipica, Gabriel Romero, La Sonoro Dinamita et Armando Hernandez, "Cumbia Cumbia 1 & 2" est un parfait panorama de l'âge d'or de la cumbia.

Aujourd'hui la cumbia est en pleine renaissance, elle envahit les dancefloors et contamine de nouvelles générations de fans.
