The album “Axen” marks the beginning of a new chapter for The Glitz as they embark on a journey beyond the world of electronic music. After a wide range of beautiful, inspiring, provoking and uplifting The Glitz-singles, we are now approaching the full album in all its might. The singles have shown us the diverse soundscapes you can find in Andreas and Daniel’s musical multiverse, with the genres ranging from the classic House and Techno genres, to also introducing their take on Trip Hop, Neo RnB, Hip Hop, Ballad and Electronica.
 
This journey into their musical realm has resonated with fans and colleagues alike the last months, putting the first single on position 1 in the German Club Charts for four weeks straight (it is still in the Beatport top100 after 7 months). The following singles have been heavily supported by artists like Radio Slave, Sam Divine, Acid Pauli, Green Velvet and Maceo Plex to name a few, while also being played on radio stations world wide.
 
Born out of a desire to create a space to explore and expand their unique sound, their new album “Axen” is a bold extension of The Glitz’ vision and purpose. It has been a long time coming and is the result of four intense years in the studio together with the unique and talented singer and songwriter Mulay. And now it is time to present the full album to the world.
 
“Axen” is the mesmerising product of one of their many jam sessions in the studio. It carries the unique The Glitz fingerprints all over it while also letting them shine in a new context. The slow flowing Hip Hop beat paired with Mulay’s raw vocals and incredibly poetical and personal lyrics is a must hear for old and new The Glitz-fans alike.
 
Placed between some of the beautiful singles we have heard before, “Ergh” hits us with full force. The track takes us on a breaky, synth loaded trip. As an energetic and driving fresh breath of air, the track combines a frisky attitude with a tension building arrangement, showing that while Andreas and Daniel embrace new genres and styles, they still have good ears for club oriented, heavier hits as well.
 
“Flummi” is put to work in a similar setting, but with a completely different world of sounds. Bright synths slowly build up, paralleled with the pulsating low end and guiding the listener towards an explosive breakdown. The track is followed by the wild and intoxicating “Rabbit Underground” that swoops you off your feet like a rocket launch. A skilfully crafted yet raw drum work with an exquisite snare creates a foundation for tantalising synths and captivating vocals that radiates with power. After this rollercoaster of a track, the wilderness is countered with the soft and playful “Mother”. The Glitz bring together various layers of soft synths and smooth percussions, creating a beautiful sphere where the captivating vocals by Mulay shine in a new way. Ending this incredible journey of sound exploration is the stunning ballad “Seven Rivers”. No noise, no distractions, just a beautifully stripped down ballad that carries an ocean of emotions. A perfect completion of “Axen”.
 
In their own way, each song carries the unique sound characteristics that Andreas and Daniel are so known and loved for, while giving them space to experiment and show themselves in new ways. The Glitz are ready to start their journey towards the big “AXEN” album release in April, and they are starting it with a proper statement track. The first single “Dicktator” is a shot fired against the ambiguity of wealth, power and morality that seems to run through our societies. Western countries getting rich through selling weapons to war torn areas, then working against helping refugees who seek shelter. Politicians lying through their teeth in their hunt for more power. And it is just accepted. The irony of it all is poetically worded by the beautiful and fierce vocals of Fanny Winter, while Andreas and Daniel have created a monster of a song. A frenzy of groove, percussions and synths blend in the style of rough electronica. Like something you have never heard before, the track pushes forward, powerful and full of attitude. 

While the original is a masterpiece, the guys have also put their heads together to give us a version suited for the clubs. “Dicktator (Club Mix)” is as groovy as they come. Think beach house inspired but with a heavy hitting bassline, quirked synth elements and of course, the occasional vocal elements from the original. A bass heavy groove ride with smooth percussions perfectly suited for both those dark nights in the club as well as dusty afternoons on a festival dance floor. We are excited to see where this journey towards the new The Glitz album will take us. One thing is certain though, the first release hits the ground running and we know we are in for a treat!

Mulay’s magnificent vocals soar along a ravishingly tangible piano, moving between the most fragile and the most hopeful tones you will hear this year. We are more than excited to introduce to you The Glitz’ second album single “Treat Yourself Badly”. After making waves with their first single “Dicktator” that saw some massive support from artists like Robag Wruhme, Richie Hawtin, VNSSA and Claptone, the guys are ready to take us on another ride down groove lane. 

“Treat Yourself Badly” starts as fragile as they come with a soft synth melody and the goosebump-inducing vocals from Fanny Winter. It builds up slowly, adding layers of rawness, strength and roughness before ending in a complete breakdown that beautifully contrasts the dramatic energy in the peak.

But of course, The Glitz are not our favourite glitzers without their signature club sound. And here the crafty soundscaping of Daniel and Andreas really comes to play. Turning the fragility from the original into a funky and groove ridden “Club Mix”, the guys know what buttons to press to make the dance floor vibe. Catchy drum work intertwines with the funk-loaded bass, just how we love it. While the synths roar and soar in the break, the energising cowbells give the track a proper spank throughout the build up and into the drop.

The Glitz are now ready to set off 2024 with a big bang. And a big bang is what we get with the track carrying the fitting title, “All In”. Here, the guys deliver a tune that fumes with attitude. Wild synths make a slow rise, building up a kind of tension that electrifies your whole body. The stomping groove drives the track forward, introducing us to a frenzy of sounds before moving towards the heavy hitting lift off. 

While the original track is already packed with The Glitz-vibes, Andreas and Daniel also serve us an excellent “Club Mix” that ensures no-one will be left standing still on the dance floor. Taking a more technoid approach to this one, they excellently reconstruct the track into a heavy hitting club tune infused with the wildness from the original, creating a whole new world of dance floor energy. It is a whirlwind of synths and bass, ready to blow you away.

The Glitz are back with their next album single. “Golden” is as breathtaking as they come, with a warm and pulsating undertone that irradiates tenderness. This single is an ode to the dynamics between daily struggles, insecurities, optimism and the power of believing in yourself in a world filled with influences aimed at making you insecure. The incredibly deep-felt lyrics from Mulay give a sincere reflection on the topics ranging from fierce mantras to soft and wicked lines. The musical background of these two guys is just very different. Everything began with an oldschool hip hop and crossover. In the middle of the 90’s they found their love for house and techhouse music. After moving on as DJ’s and having some solo releases the young and talented guys decided to create THE GLITZ in 2007. There they started with three members - but now they’re down to two now. The first EP “White Line” was a huge success. Surprisingly THE GLITZ found themselves in many DJ playlists and other electronic music charts around the world. Their follwong releases “Chatter” and “Tenga” tie in with the success of “White line”. THE GLITZ have a few releases waiting in the start blocks. So you can get ready for next singles called “Silbersee”, “Last Panther” and “Red Leaves”. Labels like Material, Ideal, Voltage Musique and Pocketgame support THE GLITZ and their kind of electronic music. The keen sense for the right sound at the right moment makes THE GLITZ not only convincing as producer but also as a DJ-Team in the clubs. People love their energetic sets, but also to see their passion behind the decks is worthwhile is the motivation of this two guys.
