Originally titled "Retour" for it's original release as a slower atmospheric semi-psychedelic track, this updated version was kicked in the tempo in order to create a more rockabilly flavor.  The mood of the song is dark and insistent, delivering lyrical patterns that carry from verse to verse until the final chorus fade. (lyrics below)

The name "Lucky Thirteen" comes from the name of a car at a demolition derby out in central Pennsylvania. It looked like a beast... late 60s, matte black and the size of a battleship, it rolled into place and looked like the car to beat.   This song embodies the excitement and adrenaline of that night at The Buck Motorsports Park in Lancaster PA. (lyrics below)

After a promising start, the driver got caught between the concrete barrier and the giant steel rail along the side of the track where he was pounded over and over until his car was pushed up onto the rail. In the end, his tires spun in vain as he was hit again and again, which resulted in his giving up the ghost.  The image for the track is an action picture of the moment he took the fatal hit that pushed him up on the rail.
